Albums you haven't played for years and then play and it's wow!!

Couple from the recent past that got dusted off:

Clor
Guillemots

Anyway back to the math rock revival. Go Polvo!

As we're squabbling about the relative merit of old jungle albums here.......

Timeless is at least twice as long as it needs to be and hopelessly marred by wailing soul diva muppets and painfully dull "intelligent" passages.
These were unbelievably excused at the time because he claimed to like E.L.O. FFS!

"oh he's so eclectic"

If I remember right there was one decent tune and the rest was tedious.

Yeah but Timeless was a masterwork compared to the load of toss that was the 89-hour track called 'Mother' or something

Cypress Hill - Black Sunday

Brings back happy memories of school lunch times, getting caned on toots down by the railway. Bliss

I see there are some votes for Goldie's Timeless. Get's my vote as well. Occasionally I'll get out my mini discs and make a point of listening to it and it never ever disappoints.

just played Nirvana "Nevermind" for the first time in years, brilliant, I knew it was good, but haven't played it in years, lost the cd, never bothered replacing it, until this weekend

what old tunes have you rediscovered lately?

I played bleach the other day for the first time in years and thought 'shit'

I used to love it.

Ok. Am listening to their covers atm, their version of Burnin' Love is my favourite elvis cover now.

did you hear their farewell release with Alice Donut - the cover of Let The Sunshine / Age of Aquarius is astonishing :D

I went through a very low patch this summer :(

dug out my mum's old record Watermark by Art Garfunkel and couldn't stop listening to the sickly smooth slick sounds of seventies mor production - it became my secret soundtrack to summer 2007. I've got no excuse and I don't expect anyone else to like it :D

Reign in Blood by Slayer.

I hadn't heard it in about 12-13 years then stumbled across a presumed lost copy on CD a few weeks back. Fuckin' A. :D

It was a tough choice between that and Hotel California - The Eagles.

New Album out you know.

I wouldn't mind hearing it actually as I hear they've been generous with
the 'unintentionally hilarious'

Thanks to Soulseek I rediscovered a few albums I listened to in the early 80's. It tends to be the less famous ones I still like because they haven't been overexposed so much.

Lora Logic - Pedigree Charm
Matt Johnson/The The _ Burning Blue Soul
Flying Lizards _ Fourth Wall
Scritti Politti - Songs to Remember
The Honeymoon Killers - Les tueurs de la lune de miel
The B-52's - Mesopotamia
Hermine - The World on My Plates
Malcolm McLaren - Buffalo Gals
The Associates - The Affectionate Punch (acoustic version)
Various Compact label artists - A Young Persons Guide to Compact

american prayer - jim morrison - amazing still nearly 40 years on...

dubnobass - underworld - sounds as fresh as ever...

on the timeless arguement - I don't think anybody got even close to goldie (well ok and a LARGE dose of rob playford :D ) to capturing that time in history - a guy called gerald and roni size were pretty bland by comparison for all the press hype......like him or loathe him he was leading the scene from the front....

eh? 28 gun bad boy was the first jungle album, and represents the shift from old school breakbeat 'ardcore to jungle...

Matthew Sweet - Girlfriend
Matthew Sweet - 100% Fun

Dug them out cos he's on the Uncut Neil Young covermount doing Everybody Knows This is Nowhere with Susanna Hoffs.
