Girl One & the Grease Guns - The Strange Little Lines That Humans Draw In The Dust

This has got my year off to a good start. Over the past four year's they've released a series of 7"s and here they all are plus more as an album. It sounds like it was recorded in about 1980 and varies from minimal electronics to noisy electro-punk, but it's the OMD meets Phil Spector pop-songs that really press my buttons, like Jessica 6:

Funny, I pressed play without reading your description and my first two thoughts were 'OMD' and '60s girl group singing'. Well done for summing it up so well! I like it.

Gorillaz will release a new album in June, they have released a new song and given the lyrical content of the song seem planned to be released a day before Trump steps into the White House.

Roger Robinson (off of King Midas Sound) has a new tape out on Jahtari next week, it's real nice - some heavy dub poems, some sweet vocals. You can download the title track from his website to give you a taste - Dog Heart City Promo | Roger Robinson

Liking the new Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes album - nice riff-driven rock-n-roll:

Also, Spoon and Grandaddy both have new singles out, which hopefully means new albums from them in the coming year too.

Thanks for this, hadn't picked up on it yet.

Their workload over the last few years has been pretty impressive and none of it comes across as filler.

Presume this also means some live dates

a new Grandaddy album has to be better than the shabby new Flaming Lips effort surely?

also new Blue Aeroplanes album 'Welcome Stranger!' is a pretty perfect Blue Aeroplanes album if you want one.
overflowing with words as you might expect, catchy riffs etc
a new line up to me (although apparently fairly longstanding)
saw them last week and they're on form live too
