SpookyFrank Ridin' a Stutz Bearcat, Jim

It makes a bit more sense if you heard their last album, Ones and Sixes, which did use static and noise albeit in a less striking way. This new one owes a lot to David Lynch's sound work on the Twin Peaks revival I reckon.

e2a: This video, as well as being even better than the other one, has a lot of Lynch-esque imagery going on too :hmm:

Now then. Just realised Lykke Li's new one 'So Sad, So Sexy' is already out. She came in at no. 6 in 2014 (I put her at joint no. 1 with September Girls myself).

At first glance this one is less lighters-in-the-air anthemic, so not as immediate but may have more staying power...

Yes, I spotted this in a random trawl of my local HMV yesterday. I didn't have enough cash on me at the time, but I'll probably get it tomorrow. When I'll listen to it - World Cup, work and other commitments - I'm not sure. The review I read suggested it was softer than their first two.

Yeah, it's not really my kind of thing. But then neither was the last one and I loved that, so I'm willing to give it a bit of time.

yehhh my mates just put out a proper trashy punk rock and roll album, it is surprisingly difficult to do without fucking it up in some way (eg too cheesy, too well recorded, too pretentious, too sincere, to ironic etc etc) but I am happy to say that they have nailed it and it is a blast guitar fun

just got round to listening to this, wow it might be their finest release! although I haven't made it through their entire discography I must admit. But yeah considering there are so may tracks a surprising amount of them are killers, and because it is all over the place genre-wise it is great for sticking on and not getting bored

The new Gang Gang Dance sounds like someone's gap year. Still making my mind up as to whether that's a good thing or not yet.

A little bit of ESG, a little bit of Chicago house, two women from Norwich. I'm really enjoying this. Here's the single: If You See Me

I am so in love with this album - beautiful, hopeful, perfectly crafted pop music. An album I needed to hear after a short period of terrible mental health :)
