He was a miserable old right wing git but with linda smith the funniest person on radio and i loved him dearly. News quiz won't be the same .

Part of his charm was that he had a dissenting political position to all other News Quiz contributors. It was always much more homogenous without him.

Gutted I didn't even know he was ill, although I did wonder why he hadn't been around much recently. My dad will be really gutted, he was a big fan and was just singing AC's praises to me at the weekend.

I always thought he was at his best when in conversation with Sandi Toksvig. I was very sorry to hear of his death. He was very witty.
