Al Qur'an 3.64 and 19.36

And not one is equal to Him. (=there is no other God and none of God's creation can equal God)

Of course, Koran knows of the "peoples of the book", recognises them and as a junior religion [younger, one that came after and from those earlier texts/beliefs/movements/churches] allows for the brotherhood and similarities [as it borrowed heavily from them] between the great monotheistic religions of the world it was aware of at the time...

Or does it?

But it's not. It's just not to have a deity. Yes, one believes in reason, in evidence and rational discourse, as the way to find out how things work in the natural world. Every practical person does that. It is just that one sees no practical need to believe in any deity at all.

And that means you have no idea what "rationalist" means and no concept of Reason...:hmm:

Mornin' Vicar.

So it's not rational to believe "in reason, in evidence and rational discourse" as the way to find out how things work in the natural world. Riiiight.

More tea, perhaps?

Nope, it's more PCs for you, son...

Leave the other bits, you gonna get injured... Honestly... That kinda exertion is clearly not for you...:D

So I'm gonna get injured am I, Vicar? And this would be as a result of using English in a way the Vicar doesn't don't like, I take it?

That's kinda scary.

Yeah, me gonna spank your silly butt over the misappropriation of a Philosophical notion...:D Boo!:p

You speak in jargon, and try to insist other people do likewise.

Perhaps, if only we knew the true meaning behind the words me gonna spank your silly butt would turn out to be some insightful philosophical comment.

Or perhaps you are a conceited fool who does not notice he is being humoured, so that he is encouraged to expose his conceits? That's how the English treat Vicars, you see.

It's your attempt to control other people's language; your social conservatism; and your preaching from on high that make you exactly what the left needs.

As an example to avoid, you understand.

My, my, what a twat! But that's expected from a man who proves a point by - quoting himself... And that's "intelligent", is it? Well, more like "humour" to me...:D

Otherwise, I am attempting to control other's language, am I?:D By which magic power?

Boy, oh, boy...:D

My, my, what a twat! But that's expected from a man who proves a point by - quoting the Good Book... And that's "intelligent", is it? Well, it's a source of great amusement to your (very few) readers.

Boy, oh, boy... what a conceited arse!

Gorski, a little tip for you. Systematic sustained self-reflection is the key to emancipation, the key to freedom from domination. Have a think about what you've done on here.

Here's another narcissus to prove the point... What a merry crowd you make!!!:p

Bitch, back under the stone you crawled from...:D

J... ach, forget it...

Now, now, dearie me.... what puffin' and huffin'... and I ain't impressed, Prince of Muddledness... :D

Too boring: immature, unoriginal, turgid.

So, apparently along with almost everyone else, I've popped you on the ignore list.

Do feel free to fuck off all the same.

Oh, no, no, I insist: be your own guest!:D

I have no one on ignore:p - it's a sign of a feeble mind!!!:rolleyes::D

Perhaps if you look above you'd see I do have something to contribute.

Besides, Mr Bounty here is trawling around and patrolling the forum of late, checking my posts and then making it his duty to come teach me what's what in Philosophy, which I find... embarrassing... for him...:p But hey...

Anyway, I did contribute in both my posts, up there, if only to warn that his notion of Reason is little Johnny's notion of Reason, whereby Reason is reduced to Understanding [Praxis reduced to pragma, to "what works"] and therefore it can not be "regionally" representative in any way! It's just a specific point of view and I let it be known, that's all.

In there, unlike majority of his posts where he is NOT ignoring my posts - quite the opposite is the case [poor little hypocrite!] - he keeps shoving his nose into matters he does not understand but wishes to butt in anyway with ignorance and arrogance. Hence, it was necessary to intervene. I didn't "abuse" him. That he reserved for himself...:hmm:

You know, for someone who protests how I "lie" about his position, even though I carefully scrutinised what he was mumbling in earlier threads, but to allow himself to "assess" my stance as "socially conservative" etc. because I do not allow his - at best - demi-informed nonsense to go on unchallenged and misrepresent some of us who do know a few things about the stuff he doesn't but wishes to appear very knowledgeable about, as if he speaks for all of the Western word and whatnot - oh, well...

What does this have to do with the Koran?
It's a spoiler.

The fellow is seriously reactionary and authoritarian. If his "I know best, you ignorant anglos" line does not derail things his second line of attack is just to disrupt threads and close down discussions that he does not want to take place.

His methods promote confusion and shut down discussion. The effect of his kind of tactics is to weaken any kind of systematic response to the evils of society, and so to promote the security of the status quo.

It's an interestingly common tactic among academic "left-wingers".

the islamists shouldn't even be posting here because its Ramandan

I believe that Mohammed said "post ye not upon teh evil western internetz during the month of holy fasting, Ramadan, lest you spend the afterlife with all of the Shaytaans burning in eternal damnation..."

Uhhh, DC, during Ramadam participating Muslims do not eat or drink anything from dawn until sunset.

I think you'll find posting to Urban75 is not precluded.

no, anything that gives one pleasure is precluded...masturbation, smoking, drink, internet, email, having sex with wives #1, #2 and #3 at the same time, food, etc...

according to al quran one should spend teh time of fast abstaining from all that gives enjoyment and spend it praying to Allah and repenting for their sins and asking for forgiveness....suicide bombings excluded, of course :)

Hmmm :hmm:

I don't think the chaps where I buy my halal full english breakfast see it quite like that. Nor does wikipedia come to that (I think it's not a bad start for researching this sort of question).

Would you consider yourself an expert on religious observances generally?

well the chap who give you breakfast and wikipedia are not the almighty Allah

Boy, oh, boy, are you stoopid or are you stoopid:rolleyes: and humourless...:D But by now I wouldn't expect anything more from you, so not really bothered...:p

Salaam!

No but arguing is :)

Ramadan is foremost a spiritual journey and in addition I had this year so many obligations that I really didn't want to get involved in any type of discussions.
Hence I didn't come on Urban either. This place is sometimes a bad influence on your inner peace ;)
I'm slightly surprized that this thread got a second life.

salaam.
