Yep, utter shit. And that song with the Chipmunks singing the chorus was unforgivable. He should have had his vocal chords ripped out.

Its the right fodder for arseholes on the bus who seem to think everyone wants to hear their shit r'n'b music coming out of a crackly mobile phone. This makes its shitness complete.

I don't think that's "chavvy" at all. You seem to be getting confused with bling and conpicious consumption which is a totally different thing althogther.

Lots of bling relates back to black american stars showing off their wealth and achievements, being proud of what they've acheived and earnt. Just because it isn't like how traditional old money would have shown off - fine wines, big houses, rare art, that makes it something to sneer at?

"General bastardisation of hip hop culture"? Gimme a break...hip hop is such an evolutionary, constantly changing genre that cvould anyone confidently say there is a "hip hop culture"? East Coast hip hop and it's values are streets apart from West Coast. Let's not even get into Dirty South, the UK hip hop scene, gangster rap etc etc.

take a look at my two posts to you on this thread. Have i insulted you in the way you suggest? no - i've responded to your posts with sarcasm because I believe sarcasm is all they warrant. That's how it goes sometimes.

I don't have a chip and do engage in rational debate, for what it's worth.

However, you do reveal yourself as someone I find almost permanently wrong, and you do seem comfortable chucking out pejoratives like 'chavvy'. So i react to them. The rest of that little strop ^^ is your paranoia, i'm afraid :D

I think this is a REALLY intresting point, but I think it's for another thread (sadly)...fuck it...

See chavvy is something that means something different to everyone, in the same way that toff does, to me they are both sides of the same coin. Lot's of bling vs Fine wine and big houses. To me it's all part of conpicious consumption on many levels, and trying to prove how "worthy" you are as a person through what you have and your status, and how many women will have you/knob you or , how many men want to feel your tits up. Not sure where it all stems from. That's just my take on it, like I said, others will see it differently, and their very welcome to, but I can only live my life and see stuff how I see it.

As to hop hop culture. You're right in saying it does evolve and will continue to, but I think it has it's roots in preching equality. RAP (orignally stood for radical american prose) wanted to change the world and have it equal. Somewhere (I don't know where) that changed to try and get as rch as the buisnessman who has a big house on long island. S'what I mean by "bastardisation of hip hop culture".

Maybe on this occasion I have overeaccted slightly. But again, lets not start on the word chavvy cos in my head it isn't a pejorative. I've decribed that above. You are very free to find me wrong, but on occasion you have posted some unecessarily nasty coments (this includes sarcasm aswell) without actually attempting to find out where I'm coming from. And on some issues I absloutley agree with you so we may have more in common then you think.... sorry about that!
