Airfix to close?

The modern way innit, all the kids are stuck indoors getting fat playing Xbox et al, instead of...sitting indoors, getting fat making model planes.

So long Airfix.

if humbrol as gone tits up what about the little tins of paint etc that were made in the uk unlike the models which are made by heller in france

I think it's really sad.

Another nail in the coffin of the England I grew up in.

Multicultirism is a bastard.

You know apart form the sentimental bollox that will go on about reminiscing about Airfix.

This is actually a snapshot of a wider problem this country will face in years to come.

Foreign companies 'owning' part or all of British manufacturers.

If you read the report the reason they went bust was because their French manufacturer Heller went bust, and the french refused to allow the moulds out of France, because Heller owned all the moulds. In part owning Airfix.

The same problem arises in any downturn, if a Germany company, lets just pick one at random, say...RWE, who own Thames Water, has to make redundancies to up profit for whatever reason, will it lay off people in Germany, where its Headquarters are, where political will might be brought to bear on them in a fashion that will hurt their entire company, or do they lay off people in Britain, where the government can't really do anything about it.

Case in point Peugot decide to close a plant and move it to eastearn europe, what was our government able to do? Absolutely nothing.

It is a worry that in about 25 years we will see a massive economic downturn and because successive government have sold of 90% of our country to foreign investors we will be hit extremely hard by that downturn, far harder then we have been in the past.

I am having a flash of 1930s era depression...American style.

Is it not obvious

ETA: obviously a trolling twat of the lowest order I meant. Sorry.

Apology not accepted.

Airfix prospered at a time when society was a whole - i.e. all proud to be British, proud of Britain winning the War etc.

British society nowadays, due to multicultirism, is now disparate.

Small pockets of hatred as opposed to one community.

Interesting prediction....source?

Most of the slaps and punches I had when I was young were over me sabotaging my brother's Airfix models. I have a very clear memory of when I was about 3 years old, he's made some WW2 plane and had worked on it for ages. I saw it on the table in the front room, drying off the glue, and I ripped the wings off it.

Where the fuck have I gloated?

I'm sure they made plenty of money of the labour of their employees to last them for a little while anyway. It's the people they've sacked ("let go", my arse, what did they do, release them into the wild? ) that I'm bothered about.
hmmm then again maybe if you knew anything about the situation you'd know that a group of people came together to buy humbrol after heller got into financial difficulties the ideal being tha tthey could make the thing profitable again.

Heller then offered to continue to make the plastic kits in france before falling in to a bigger financal black hole... sensing that this would mean that they got stiffed the group attempted to have the molds for the kit's returned to them as they were assets at which point heller promptly declared bankrupty. The recievers then seized the airfix assest in hellers control and sought to use them as a bargining tool and also threatened to sell them off dispite it being proved that the were entirely the property of humbrol and airfix. this wrangle has continued for about 3 months now with the result that they have ot been able to make a single thing or produce anything subsiquently they had to give up yesterday....

thus far the group has invested a considerable sum of cash and had it all swallowed up and not recieved a single penny in profit, and indeed due to the private nature of the business will now suffer personal loss as a result....

but hey don't let the reality of the facts get in the way of your tub thumping bullshill charchter assinations of peopel you don't know and on a subject you know nothing about purely becuase you have some kind of personal envy complex about people attempting to have and make successful businesses ....

you are punching out tierd old rhetoric and attempting to use it as a one size fits all cavate to revael in others misfortune under the guise of radical politics...

now if you have nothing to add to this thread (or indeed life in general) STFU ..

In bloom sad refference to a shit band or just because with the amount of shit you speak you can't help but be constantly fertilising the ground around you...

fucking psydo pinko wannabe...

well kinda ... heller were supposed to hand over the molds as they were purchased as part of the sale of humbrol and airfix ...

heller refuse to realse the assets then went bust the receivers then refused to release the assests ...

It's akin to me lending buying a camera off an urbanite and then not being able to collect it straight away and then them going bust and having it seized by the courts . The molds are right fully airfix's but it's likely now that they will never be used and will be sold as assets of heller
