Activists; Why were you not at Climate Camp?

Only if you bought indulgences...sorry, offsetting.

I've planted about six trees since moving here and not flown once! If anyone wants to offload their middle class guilt by giving me money to plant more trees go right ahead.

I quite fancy the idea of an orchard.

God, who cares? If somebody drove there, or even flew, does that mean that carbon emissions would somehow not be important?

Flying to get to an airport protest is beyond satire. :D

No, of course it's important. It would just mean they're hypocritical bastards who are only there to break their own arms from patting themselves on the back so hard.

Do you honestly believe that a few hippies are going to stop George Bush (or anyone for that matter) from pumping oil?

getting an issue to be a dominant item in the mainstream media for a week is part of getting more than 'a few hippies' seriously thinking about it

As previously mentioned, the whole world already knows about it. Some people are doing something about it, others aren't.

How about we all get together and protest against paedophilia?

yeah, i was quite impressed by the positive media coverage it received

Has anybody said they expect that to happen? If so, who? If not, why do you ask?
What do they expect to happen then?
Keep pumping oil but instead of using it to fuel planes etc, they might convert it into dream catchers or fluffy teddies?

people have heard about it - its at the outside edge of a lot of peoples consciousness. IMO it's such an important issue that it needs to work its way to the top of peoples agenda

I have no idea what the point of your argument is here. It's just gibberish.

Tell you what, why don't you organise it. It'll be loads of work, as the people organising the camp will have found. While you're doing it, everybody else can make disparaging comments about what you're doing. What d'you reckon?

Yes. That's exactly what they were doing, Mr Daily Mail.

there is also the separate and related issue of peak oil - that easily extracted oil is becoming more scarce and we will need to make intelligent choices about how we use it

Im in the SWP, and we're not welcome at such events, and I didnt want anyone to think we were trying to Hijack it. ;)

Was doing my Grans gardening, mowing, cutting trees down and back, and chopping up firewood.

All stuff that is pretty bad for the enviroment. :o

Just to clear things up a bit, I was happy the protest took place, and congratulate the organisers. Particularly as this is sucha a big issue for people living in the area, I think its sick that people living in the area hardly get any consultation just because BAA are so much bigger then some village, and airport expansion is 'so important for the UKs economic expansion.'

Funnily enough, the last time I took a flight (just last Friday, as it happens) I flew over my mother's house. I did wonder whether it was pissing her off.

Right, cos it's currently less important than dogshit according to a recent poll.

The public believes the effects of global warming on the climate are not as bad as politicians and scientists claim, a poll has suggested.

The Ipsos Mori poll of 2,032 adults - interviewed between 14 and 20 June - found 56% believed scientists were still questioning climate change.

There was a feeling the problem was exaggerated to make money, it found.

The Royal Society said most climate scientists believed humans were having an "unprecedented" effect on climate.

The survey suggested that terrorism, graffiti, crime and dog mess were all of more concern than climate change.

I see you're pointing the Daily Mail finger again... don't you think you've ripped the arse out of that one?

You're all a bunch of fucking hypocrites, sat in front of your 500 watt+ computers, bigging yourselves up because you stood in a field for a few hours... woopi-fookin-dooooooo

*stifles yawn.

Nothing wrong with it, but I'd definately disagree with someone who said dog shit was more important than the issue of climate change (however much dog shit might piss me off). Dog shit is annoying and anti-social, but climate change could conceivably cost millions of lives.

I'm flying easyjet to Majorca in a couple of weeks.

After my holiday last year I'd suggest not spending all of it in Magaluf. The clubs are shit, although one of them gives away free thongs.

Some nutters chained themselves to the main gate at work so couldn't check post for invite, that and not feeling like getting nicked for breach of the peace
