AC/DC

Nah man. Van Halen.
I still like both era's of Van Halen. (I don't count Cherone!)

Mind you, I'll willingly say this - when EVH put the guitar down at the end of the 5150 tour, and didn't play it for a year in 1987 so he could concentrate of learning keyboards / piano.... man, that was a waste. OU812 would really have benefited from a lot more guitar. "For unlawful" was a far better album, because he picked up the guitar again - but the album title is inexcusable.

Watching Live Without a Net you can clearly see that Hagar fits in with the chemistry of the band . They didn't want to get a clone of Roth, and who can blame them?

Alright i'm being a bit 'fake outrage'! My two biggest heroes are Noam Chomsky (for changing my politics) and Roth (for getting me into martial arts and travelling off the beaten track). I do like a lot of Hagar period Van Halen though (the version of Jump on Live... is phenomenal). Just as an aside the friends i've kept from school (30 years) all call Roth's biography Crazy From the Heat 'The Bible' as its full of instructional lessons for living life well. Hagar's a better singer but really...

Yeh I understand your outrage at the grand marnier

Right in the middle of the fucking picture  you can't miss it

Bon for singer...Brian sounds like Donald duck with his balls caught in a mangle!
I've seen them live well over 30 times, sadly never with Bon...Don't get me wrong, Brian's OK, I just think Bon had a certain quality and charisma about him...a vulnerability.
My favourite album is Highway to Hell....Touch too much, girls got rhythm, shot down in flames, walk all over you....wonderful, can't fault it.
My all time favourite songs are Whole lotta Rosie and Problem child.

I even called my 2 westies Angus and Bonnie :D

Although I liked 5150, Dave Lee Roth was definitely my favourite Van Halen frontman....Mr Showbiz himself :D

I preferred Sammy with Montrose...Bad motor scooter always guarantees to get me shaking my bottom! :D

After seeing them with Bon several times, I wasn't expecting the Back in Black tour to be so good, but it was. I can't remember exactly but think it was about a year after Bon died. As a kid I just saw no problems with it, just different, the Young brothers just got a new singer, an older gordie rocker who made it possible to continue doing what they did. I didn't listen or go and see as much rock after the middle of the 80's, so much other music to get into, but whenever a new Ac Dc track came on the car radio it got turned up loud. I still listen to those old rock records from the 70's and love 'em.

Only saw them with Brian. But amazing they where. It's primal stuff. Fucking love AC/DC

5150's a great album. OU812 is respectable. But compared to the first one or Fair Warning?

I've been listening to a lot of Rhino Bucket lately and it's almost like listening to new AC/DC with Bon Scott albums.

I've time for ACDC. Both eras. I wouldn't spend money going to see them now though. 25 years ago maybe. Same for Guns N Roses, Aerosmith, Metallica, etc. I don't feel the same excitement as I did when I was 12 years old and they were at their peak, and none of them have put out anything good for over 20 years at least.

Only seen AC/DC with Bon Scott in 1978 Sheffield Top Rank, Mrs S. has seen AC/DC many times only with Brian.
But I saw Brian with Geordie back around 74ish.
Sammy Hagar was excellent with both Montrose and Van Halen, Cherone should have stuck with Extreme, in my humble opinion of course.

Why are people talking about Van Halen on this thread? That's like, um, talking about something really shit on a thread about something quite good.

Ditto. Saw them On The Black Ice tour, and they were amazing.

If they toured again now, they'd have changed 80% of the members. Only Angus would remain.

Phil Rudd - sacked. Chris Slade was the only possible, legitmate replacement
Malcolm - Dementia. This can't be helped. Getting in Stevie - who replaced him in 88 - is the only possible, legitimate replacement.
Cliff - he's quit. He knew it was over.
Brian - exited, and I blame Angus for that. A disgraceful way to handle it.
Angus - is all that remains.

If they came back with Cliff and Brian (with Stevie and Chris), I'd accept that as AC/DC. Simply put - its' Axl thats the dealbreaker for me. An AC/DC with Axl isn't an AC/DC worth seeing.

Anything else than getting Brian/Cliff back isn't AC/DC.
Its AC/Don't See.

Johnson was told not to perform or risk losing his hearing entirely. The tour was already booked so Angus drafted in Axl to fill in. There hasn't been any indication Brian won't return for studio recordings

If you think brian is ever coming back, I must strongly disagree. As for carrying on with Axl - its not AC/DC. They should have just cancelled the rest of the tour with immediate effect, rather than pissing on their legacy. They had a different choice, but he chose instead to carry on and let the money talk.
Tour insurance would covered a tour cancellation for health reasons

Angus said "You can't call an album Rock Or Bust and then Bust". You can, Angus. Its just his bloody mindedness, greed and pride that meant it carried on. Cliff knew it was no way to continue, thats why he quit.

its always been Angus and Malcolm running the ship, and that has abundantly clear from every biography of them I've ever read. With Malcolm not involved anymore, and Angus being the sole member still in the band now from the tour before last, who else is making the decisions?

oh, I worshipped Bon Scott - when I was about 11 or 12, in around 1982, I used to wear these ridiculous flares all the time just 'cause Bon wore 'em. I also tried to pierce my ear with a needle and an ice cube 'cause Bon had an earring and the needle got stuck halfway through my ear, so I went home crying to me mum who promptly pulled it out then gave me a clip round the other ear for being a prat! :( sigh. RIP Bon!

They are obligated to the record company as well, is it still Columbia...I'm not too sure...anyway, the record label would have had a lot invested...Venues booked, posters, programs and t-shirts printed. There was a lot of publicity surrounding this album/tour....first one in 6 years, rumoured to be their last....you can't just stop something that big... as they say, the show must go on.

Report: AC/DC To Record New Album With AXL ROSE?

No. Quit it Angus. Its' not AC/DC anymore - It's just not. Fuck this - I'm out. And I don't want a live album or DVD with Angus either - they filmed chicago soldier field 2016 for release, and thats what should be released. Nothing with Axl.

And I've no interest in what is essentially, a vanity project with one original member (Angus) anymore.
