Abandoned railways around Hay on Wye, Wales

You missed out Kilvert's - probably the best pub in Hay IMHO. No matter, it's too crowded in there anyway.
We went for a drink there. It was v-e-r-y quiet - and it was a Friday night!

They had Brains at the Wine Vaults too!

(note to self to remember that)

The Blue Boar is cosily tiny and they often have a fine fire up in the winter. :)

(very disappointed on a visit to West Wales last October to discover the only Brains beers I could find in the village boozers was some ghastly nitro-keg - I was informed they hadn't had Dark at the pump for a decade :()

I liked the Wine Vaults the best. It's not the prettiest of interiors, but the staff there were lovely and the punters were lively and friendly.

A complete stranger gave us a lift back to Cusop Dingle when it was raining, and that was after the manageress had offered to load us a brolly!

Wonderfull - pining for a visit

anything on the Hay poisener - Major Armstrong - ?

the only lawyer ever to be hanged . I believe he lived in Cusop Dingle at a house called Mayfield.

I agree - bought the book off the internet

Appears to be a local case of jealousy and inter legal office intrigue

Just wondering what Mayfield looks like thats all.

It's a big free-standing Victorian town-house, just on the edges of Hay & Cusop, overlooking the road. I think. Lovely garden...

My mum was an extra in Dandelion Dead, the drama ITV made about the Armstrong Case a few years back :)

since when was a lawyer ever innocent.....?

Ironically enough, it seems like the only one they ever strung up was innocent. Of murder, anyway.

Cybertect: wasn't just about everyone in Hay an extra on Dandelion Dead? ;)

You're probably right though I know my dad wasn't, and I can't see either Roger Capps or Leon Morelli doing it either. :D
