Aaron Ramsey to Arsenal!!

Cheers Space for quoting me.

Whoever asked, aye he can tackle (deceptively strong for a kid) and he's versatile enough to play LM.

I'm just glad England can't sign him :)

Heh. The worrying thing for Man U and their self-aggrandising 'world's biggest club' schtick is that they can't even attract the best of up and coming young talent, let alone keep their biggest stars.

Cocky twats even announced that they'd signed Ramsey subject to a medical too, having to be rapidly corrected by Cardiff pointing out that they'd accepted more than one offer.

Expect more cheque book stretching purchases for Utd though, saddling the club with more of a massive debt.

How does your shoulder handle the weight?

Anyway, I fully expect Wenger to handle this kid the way he does all non-Euro youngsters. Expect him to be turning out for Bolton by the age of 22. Foolish boy.

Get real, who has Fergie brought through in midfield since the Beckham/Scholes generation came through? I've lost count of the millions misspent and the number of 'new Keanes' that came and went. It comes to something when Carrick at nigh on £19million looks like one of his more astute purchases. And that was after Spuds paid less than £3m for him a couple of seasons before. Big cheque book purchases are not the same as bringing a player through the ranks and developing them.

If I was Ramsey I can see why Arsenal would seem more attractive. At least he'll get an opportunity in the Carling Cup runs, with a genuine chance of making a breakthrough.

You do know that Wales counts as part of Europe don't you?

Fergie got very lucky with the crop he had in the 90's and it's unlikely to ever happen again but at least Utd still try and bring through players and there are countless youngsters on loan at clubs like Hull and Sunderland trying to get experience. yes, Utd haven't had many worth a first team place over lst few seasons but the policy is there and will continue to be while Fergie is manager.

tell me, who have Arsenal bought through in last 10 years?

10 years ago we didnt even have a training ground let alone a youth academy.

We have a crop of youngters now that are very promisng (Simpson and Wilshere as two examples)

These things take time....

Fair to say that the careers of Flamini, Fabregas, Diaby, Bentley and all have progressed better than the likes of Kleberson, Djemba-Djemba, Miller and so on, isn't it? Fair also to say that the cup runs of Arsenal have been used as decent experience for the younger players too. In general a lot of midfielders seen as needing development tend to come and leave Arsenal with enhanced reputations, which isn't as true for Utd.

Utd's present crop of youngsters is as good as they've had for a long time. But they didn't have half to pay for them as well.

Bentley apart, hardly players bought through the ranks but taken off established European clubs (Marseille, Barcelona etc.) - not quite the same. Plus most of those have left to further their careers somewhere else.

you cant use bentley as an example of arsneal bringing people through he never got a senior league game!
And how about o'shea and fletcher, richardson as recent fairly succesces.
Kleberson, miller and djemba-jemba were all bought rather then youth team as well.

Fabregas came from barcas academy(but i will allow), flamini you bought from marsailles and diaby you bought from auxerre with both diaby and falmini signing professional contracts and playing for the first team before leaving for arsenal.

You can't claim them.

It's about the development of players, not particularly how early they joined the club, or their nationality. None of these players cost particularly big money, nor were they considered entirely pure-gold prospects either.

Bentley made two senior league appearances if google is being honest with me, with a number of other cup goals.

Who cares if they've been on the books since a young un, or about whether they've made a first team appearance elsewhere (wasn't Richardson a West Ham youth player?). If it's about what happens afterwards - Ramsey's likely to have looked at the development of young players at Arsenal and nodded appreciatively. I'm not sure I'd look at Kieran Richardson and think the same.

We have a lad called willshere who is going to make a big impression soon - He's been put in the first team squad for next season at 16 - he is very very good.

I think ity's fair to say that Bendtner, Traore, Djourou, Senderos, Hoyte all cam through the youth system - not all first teamers I grant.

Yes that's because we didnt have a youth policy when AW arrived (and I'll keep telling you this).

The fruits of the last ten years are about to ripen....

Gibbs, Randell, Simpson, Wilshere (and that's only the English lads).

if in the next ten years Arsenal do not have at least three in the England team then I think we can start asking questions.

two cup appearences i think. One goal(a rather fine lob)

Richardson was a west ham youth team player(youth cup winning player no less) but never signed pro terms with us. So i guss he goes down as a man united player, if not Jon Terry is one of ours and charlton get to claim defoe back.

I don't think arsneal are very good with the youth players, with the exceptions of cashley and fabregas none of them have stayed around long and you can look to upson, bentley, pennent, diarra,(his fault though), lupoli(and the other 4 fowards you got rid of at the same time!) etc for people who were clearly good but never got a look in or didnt stay around for long for whatever reason.

Im not overlly confident the likes of aromnd traore(or whatever he is called the lb) song, walcott, denilson, hoyte(if he i still at yours) will do much for you either.

Wenger is great at find brillient youngsters but with the excpetion of playing in the league cup most dont ever get a decent look in. You lot have got it close to right but just no.

Ramsey speaks Welsh. That's cool.

yup....

A quote from another Welsh (ex) Arsenal player...John Hartson.

Hartson: Arsenal right move for Ramsey
"Ramsey appears to be a lovely kid with a mature head on his shoulders," Hartson told icWales.

"Whichever club he finally went to it would have been a great move. But opting for Arsenal I feel was the right one for him.

"I’ve recently been to Arsenal’s training ground and it is out off this world.

"He will have the best facilities, the best coaches and the best back-room staff that money can buy.

"He will also be working with one of the best managers in European football. So he's on a winner already.

Personally I'd defer to the opinion of ohhh, say Ryan Giggs than John Hartson but what do I know?

United won the champs league with 6 British players in the side. Arsenal can barely find one to put on the bench. Walcott (who looks a damn sight better than Ramsay) can't make the starting lineup so god knows what'll happen to this starry-eyed youngster.

He might speak Welsh, but I'd be hitting the Larousse too if he wants any first team opportunites.

:D:D

LOL

Who gives a fuck about Ramsey and his potential. The fact is United were complacent and Arsenal showed total class in convincing him and his family who he should join (Gary Neville..ffs!!!)

Lets hope you dont bring Gary into convince Ladyboy to stay (he he)....
