A thread in praise of the humble jacket potato

Last night I produced absolutely textbook jacket/baked potatoes for me and the missus. Got the skins just right using the olive oil/salt method, inside was fluffy and soaked in butter. Layered in grated cheese and ground black pepper, then topped with Heinz baked beans.

Served with a pint of Robinson's Orange Squash to complete a perfect meal.

:D

I'm having jacket sweet potatoes with melted camembert and black pepper for tea. There was a mini one as a taster ... just waiting for the big one to finish cooking. Mmmmmm

Whereas 'baked potato' sounds a bit formal to me :D
Wow. It seems like dinner jackets on potatoes are very formal.

I am a big fan, but will definitely be doing them in the microwave more often now, to save electric. I know you don’t get a crispy skin, and they’re not so fluffy inside, but these are hard times.

Not had a baked spud in years - can't remember the last time. Will have to try and remember to buy some - could do them in the airfryer I suppose, perhaps started off in the microwave to soften them up a bit.
