A suburban Moral Dilemma - Sprinklers

zenie said:
I was out watering my plants two nights ago and could hear a sprinkler two doors down.

I'm a bit pissed off as I'd like to use my sprinkler but we have a hose pipe pan and a £1000 fine if you're caught using one.

I'm not a grass, but that neighbour has been a bit cunty to one of my other neighbours.

What should I do?

What would you do?
I grassed someone up only the other day, I'd go for it, why should these selfish people get away with it when others are being careful?

I was about to post that I wasn't gonna do it but you're right :(

Oh I dont know *sighs*

Maybe I'll make a sarcy comment about not washing my car because of the ban or something.

I could just tell the other neighbour who she's been cunty too and leave it up to her I suppose.

How would they be able to tell I was telling the truth anyway?

No :o

What does that say??

'cos it's all very well me turning a blind eye to other stuff, but I guess this pissed me off a bit is all :)
ok, well sounds pretty damn grassy in the scheme of grassiness to me

If you ring the water company you don't have to tell them who you are, it's totally anonymous. You don't even have to leave a phone number, just tell them where these people live and they will deal with it.

Apparently and this is what Ive heard

If you are sprinkling children in bathing suits it is fine to have your sprinkler on

If you are watering plants then you are not ( god knows why this silly rule exists ) but its strange

Also its possible to use more water than you need with a hosepipe

I wouldnt worry about it They havent put standpipes up in the road yet

criticising the water company is all well and good (and correct) but the fact remains that if people carry on using water like this throughout the summer then there could be serious impacts on rivers, streams, lakes and wetlands and the wildlife that depends on them.

It's not just our water.

At this stage I’d mind my own business.

What kind of ban is it that allows commercial companies unlimited use. On my way to work the sprinklers in Finsbury Square are often on (and don’t get me started on the countless car washes).

So the reason not to get your kids to stand next to your plants is?

What gets me is that they can waste water on golf courses, but you can't use a hosepipe to water food plants.

I say p put the kids in bathing suits and water away

God knows why the loophole exists but apparently it does ( unless its an urban myth)
