3) I am regularly and sincerely thanked for "taking the time and making an effort" re. frank chats with my friends, when they are down and in need, when they have a problem and want to clear their heads and so forth. They know I will not play power/head games with them, not calculate, be honest and tell it as I really see it.

They know I will make a real effort, using all my knowledge, skills and experience, to go in depth and not allow the usual alienated relationships people frequently have, when many couldn't really care less and superficially just "get along well" and "never rock the boat", always "go with the flow" and whatnot usually passes for "friendships" these days - when many dare not say anything meaningful or "critically minded" to one another or just can't be arsed to make an effort or don't dare, as are petrified to lose their friends if they do say what they really think... So, horses for courses. I value real friendships and taking the time and making an effort in good faith.

I'm touched by your apparent "worry", shall we say...:rolleyes:

me too. I don't have a great deal of dance music. But most of my stuff is alt rock and punk from around Europe. THe thing is to be open minded about music and hmm life in general here. At least that's my perception. But then i am not our esteemed friend.

There is a proper alternative, which some in the thread used: they talked about what I asked, they talked about the issue itself, they understood what I asked and acted accordingly and they tried to be helpful. I thanked them sincerely for their help.

So, no, one doesn't HAVE to be idiotic and stupid like some of the other posters were in the thread...:) :cool:

People have choices and they choose in relation to their characters and values... Some have really legitimised themselves well here... Immature, can't think, nasty and petty... Yayks!! [Good to know, mind... ;)]
