A question for the cyclists

I'm just hoping you haven't stopped the poster concerned from further expressing her opinion on here

Being a cyclist myself I'm of the opinion that we are a hardy bunch. Calling someone 'anal' is normally the least of our problems wherever we choose to ride.

One thing I want to draw to your attention to though is adding 'tags' to a thread I started. It's not too much to expect an administrator/moderator to consult with the thread starter before messing around with it.

I didn't add any tags, but the mods are at total liberty to add relevent tags to threads if and when they feel it appropriate, with no need to consult thread starters.
You're an odd one, soulman.
Yep. And that's putting it kindly.

And thread starters are at total liberty to remove them?

Putting it kindly. That's what I've been doing for years with you lot. You're lucky to have me here and don't you forget it!

do I hear the sound a of a banstick being hefted? :hmm:

As for the OP, no I don't anymore, but I used to, purely because it was nice to look at how far I'd gone that day.

Don't worry about, I don't. There's nothing wrong with giving an administrator a boot up the arse. They'd have nothing to administor without us

If I go out for the day I'm more interested in how I feel than how many miles I've done, or at what speed.

I have no problem with cyclists in training or whatever, but I do have a problem with cycling as an everyday thing being complicated with this and that accessory.

You have a 'problem' with cyclists having a speedometer on their bikes?!

I can see from this thread that you're remarkably highly strung about trivial matters but why on earth should speedos on other people's bikes bother you?

But you're not doing that. You're just making a total prick of yourself with this pointless thread.

Your cycling is not being complicated by my anallity. My recording my rides and plotting on maps gives me added enjoyment.

I can see from this thread that you, for whatever reason, have taken it personally. Despite my reassurances you still come back in a futile attempt to prove this or that.

It's not for me to say it's embarrassing...

Exactly what is the basis of your 'problem' with cyclists having speedometers on their bikes and why does it upset you so much that you have to start a thread banging on about it?

That settles it - soulman has the problem. He can either suffer (although obviously not in silence ) or get help - or better still, step away from the keyboard and go for a ride.

I went for my first hard ride since I broke my pelvis in a bike crash today - guess what? My GPS was really useful for comparing my ride now with how I rode before the crash - I've got lots of work to do. :(

Anal? Maybe, but my "problem" is getting fit again, I'm not bothered in the slightest about what others choose to stick on their bikes (or not).

It was trundling along fine until you arrived. Now why isn't that a surprise.

There's far more people who just enjoy cycling but don't let that get in the way of you.

I enjoy not reading interminably dull threads with some unknown, bewildering agenda, but don't let that get in the way of you either.

soulman's clearly got some weird point to prove to someone here, but so far he's only made himself look a little, well, unhinged.

After all, why would any normal rational person start a thread to annonce that they have a 'problem' with people choosing to fit a speedo to their bike? It's plain bizarre!

While at Giant in 2001 I proposed a product called The C.I.A (Cycling Intelligence Application - only a working title).

The idea was a GPS unit which would measure times, speed and distance, as well as plot new off or on road trails. These trails would then be up or downloaded to our website, which would then allow cyclists to both find new trails and even race each other along them even months or years apart. We would then list league tables.

It was canned as it proved too expensive, but wasn't it a great idea?

I have one to see how far my journey's are, and what the time is :o :D
Never use the bit that tells me how fast I'm going.

Maybe if I get around to making a nacelle for my bike lights, I'll revisit the idea of permanently fitting a cycling computer with a waterproof screen, button extensions, and illumination...

Maybe he can't afford one for himself... :D
