go south!! much nicer riding with a bit of up and down in the gog magogs, the downs and down around buntingford saffron and haverhill .. eta though i am sure you are :)

The gog magogs is where I set my first fastest speed :D

Have found Haverhill... not Buntingford Saffron yet tho. TY!

I hit 42.1mph at the weekend :)

Which isn't far off my reckoned peak of 45.

Then a tubby bloke came round to buy the hybrid, and he said he'd hit fifty-two whilst going down a hill.

Please someone tell me this is kph? :(

Or hills, the like of which do not exist in Cambridge?

I hit the low 60's all the time going down the short side of Hogpen in North Georgia USA. It's pretty much routine to hit middle 50's on descents in that region (google six gap century). Hogpen was the penultimate climb on the now dead Tour de Georgia.

Question:

Where could I find a 56-59t 130pcd 1/8" chainring?

TA don't seem to make them (or I can't find them in the UK)...

ty! :)

I am not absolutely sure this is 1/8, but I think it's worth phoning JE James to ask. TA's own chainring size chart is a bit unhelpful as to what pitch the chainrings are for but from what I can make out they do from 46-61t rings with this bcd, and I think they are talking about 1/8.... but don't quote me.

TY, weeps...

I think Alize are 3/32 (I found them earlier :D)

It doesn't need to be a 1/8th - a 3/32 ring will be fine.

Stronglight do a 56T here

Would be absolutely fine on a fixed gear bike with a 1/8 chain, a 1/8 sprocket, and (currently) a 1/8 chainring?

I'm aware how shit my 3/32 chain whip is on the rear sprocket (*jams* on, doesn't 'fit' on)... which leaves me more than a little cautious about putting a 3/32 chainring on.

I've done 43mph on a mountain bike, down only a reasonable hill with a fucking great big sharp bend in it. Put some effort in!
