I think that if Shearer is Keegan's number two, there's a serious risk that Keegan's authority will be undermined rather than reinforced by Shearer's presence.
Yes, he's a piece of shit. Someone should do the world a favour and flush him.
Seriously, though, I don't think his ego would allow for anyone else to be in charge. I think he likes his current job, which lets him criticise managers and players without stepping into the firing line himself. I can't see him trying for himself - he loves himself too much to risk failure.
