A good tattoist in london

London tattooists are overpriced, it's as simple as that. Big name tattooists are often overpriced too. I don't think anyone is suggesting you go somewhere based solely on price, that'd be idiotic.

Going further afield is a very good idea to avoid paying through the nose for something no better just cos it's London or a 'name'.

I wasn't purely reccomending them for the price though, obviously I wouldn't bother if they were shit at what they do, but they arent, so it's a non arguement.

Is it? I don't think budgetting should come to it when you think about how much an artist is, not for something that'll be on you forever.

To a point.. using the earlier example of Louis Malloy, his prices will be astronomical because of the celebrity/Beckham client list and the London Ink appearences. There are artists who are just as good, but don't charge half so much.

I'd hope anyone with an ounce of sense would pick an artist because of the quality of their work.

I'd rather not get some scratcher to do me a cheap tatooo, we've been there already! :)

Chris Louis Malloy doesn't even work in London, his studio's up north but I get what you mean! :D

I don't think anyone is saying that. And remember, price is not necessarily an indicator of quality.

For clarity, this is tosh-

I was referring to the TV programme. he's down here when they're filming that.

Course it isn't, but a cheap studio would infer (to me) that the artist doesn't charge much for his work, and so value it IMO.

Oh well I disagree, but it's my body ey? :)

yes Chris and he doesn't charge for those lol :D

lol I got an image of a tesco value tattoo gun in my head, but I can't be fucked to make it :D

Lal Hardy in Muswell Hill

spent 7 hours on mine, designed it with me and for me, gave me a discount because he could reuse the design on others, full colour, coaxed me through the pain barrier and 8 years on I still love it

I spent my formative years playing football on a patch of concrete across from that shop. They've built on it now:(

That doesn't help on the tattoo front granted, but Lal is my mates cousin and he says he's a lovely fella. So that's good news, eh?:D

You're not going to explain your backward thinking then?

It's not backward thinking it's my opinion on what I do to my body, I don't expect others to agree or understand, but usually people allow you to think what you like without trying to rubbish it or shout it down. Try it sometime, might make you a bit cheerier:)

But it's crap. You have said yourself that cost is not indicative of quality, so why stubbornly insist that you must go for the most expensive option?

Good grief, I think you're overeacting a bit! :D

I've not stubbonly insisted anything of the sort, do try not to put words in my mouth. I've said it's about the quality of their work, and I don't care how high the cost if it's good work, it'll be on my body forever. :)

Do you want to carry on trying to turn this into an argument, or can you just accept I think differently to you and wouldn't go to a cheap scratcher again?

Some US artists charge 100-150 dollars an hour FWIW, when you see work that people like Nikko do, you know why. Up to you if you pay it or not

Please read my post #49.

There are many factors why some people charge less, it doesn't mean they aren't as good. Therefore, why pay more?

Does anyone know any artists in the london or south east england area who does good ankle tattoos? I heard it is quite difficult to get right withough out the ink running after a few months and I will no doubt want quite a fiddly one.

If you have a good tattooist they can do it anywhere. If you have a bad design no tattooist can make it work. How fiddly do you want it?
