A frame-y / groupset question, like.

Not much difference between Centaur and Chorus atm, a few gramms saved on the rear mech and BB but fuck all in it really - you're paying for 11sp. Centaur is the best bang for buck Campag gruppo in the same way Ultegra is for Shimano it seems.

What's the point of 11 speed?

Also, what price does a 'good' wheelset start at ey ey ey?

It has a certain Nigel Tuffnel factor but very little would be my answer.

Good handbuilt set of wheels=£220 and up. Good factory built set=£200 and up.

it goes up to 11, other groupsets only go up to 10 but this one goes up to 11.

ksyriums are decent wheels but IMO a good handbuilt set are more of an investment as you can just get them rebuilt if you knacker the rims and spokes.

Bianchi alu frames have a very poor word of mouth reputation for cracking at the headtube and BB welds. They're nothing special, they're the Italian Raleigh. If you want Italian cudos look no further than De Rosa, Pinarello and Colnago (and I would now include Wilier who make some really high quality frames).

no don't think so.... I do hate working on Cervelo bikes though
Ahrrr...

Nope, the P4 :D
and just about any TT bike ever produced, viz:

*shudders*

:D

they are fucking hideous machines there mrs q, the overuse of aero stuff make me thing of cars with spoilers which obviously suck.

weepiper- what don't you like about cervelos? apart from the rep their owners have ;) (as it happens only 2 of our regulars have them and they're actually rather nice people) and the issues with putting them in a workstand which is hardly exclusive to cervelo.

they are just horrible :D we've got a special stand just for TT/tri bikes now, you clamp the front dropouts onto one end and there's a cup for the BB shell to rest on. My main beef is the internal cable routing.

do they not have internal guides? pretty wrong either way. had a very clearly overweight (bordering obese) bloke insisting that he wasn't winning triathlons because he wasn't on one of these:

I have always thought the aero bar combi thing looks a bit like unhappy spiders. Waving.

Also, out of curiosity...

So Athena is also 11 speed, but £50ish more than Centaur.

Chorus is 11 speed, but £300ish more than Centaur. And £250ish more than Athena.

I'm guessing there is a substantial wonk up between Athena and Chorus?

Athena is the new name for Centaur (I wish they'd make their mind up, it was previously Athena renamed to Daytona renamed to Centaur and now back to Athena again). Its £50 more cos some folk will stump that up so as not to have the hideously outdated name 'Centaur' on their bikes.

athena is the new name for centaur (i wish they'd make their mind up, it was previously athena renamed to daytona renamed to centaur and now back to athena again). Its £50 more cos some folk will stump that up so as not to have the hideously outdated name 'centaur' on their bikes.

:D

and it's now eleven speed!!!!! :D

I am getting quite tempted by stuff I probably shouldn't be doing right now.

fwiw, a mate of mine is not only the fastest female rower in either Oxford or Cambridge's last-year's boatrace; she also owns a Bianchi fixie. tbf, I wouldn't mess with her. Lovely lass that she is :)

I gave her Sigmund's assessment of Bianchis earlier today :D

She is hofficially houtraged :D
