A 'conversation' with o2

I think its about 50 pence a minute.

I thought the whole point of 0870 numbers is that they're national rate  50p/min should be for 090 numbers. I thought.

The freephone number for o2 sales is 0800 0890281. For their online tariffs the sales number is 0800 0643535.

Well I just phoned the first number* (getting straight through, fwiw), and apparently the Treo650 will probably be available on o2, but they don't know when. So, um, I guess that doesn't clear that up then.

*I'm at work. I'm bored.

I did say I think, i'm not entirely sure, never been bothered to be honest. Yeah they should be free but its one of life's smaller problems really...

You big kiss arse! ;) :D

Well, I'm going to keep on bugging them:

Me: Please forward this correspondence to your superior.

I would like an answer to my question.
o2: Thank you for contacting O2 Customer Service.

With regards to your query, I can only reiterate that has been informed you earlier. May I request you to contact our Sales Team on 0870 225 7879 as they are in a better position to assist you in this matter.

There's always the...

02 Complaint Resolution Service: 0113 388 6159 (8:30pm-4pm Mon-Fri)

And the number is geographical too so not as pricey as 0870 ;)

hardy ha. Its not a homage to you I'll have you know - if I had known how many people on here you wind up, I'd have chosen something else from dubnobass.

No offence like :p

Being made to ring a number for customer services and then either being charged silly money or alternatively having to listen to the whole of Vivaldi's Four Seasons while you wait for a real person to answer is a particular bugbear of mine.

If you get details of a train journey from National Rail Enquiries website it tells you to ring a number to check that there are no recent changes. If you then call this number - which is costing money - you have to listen to quite a long taped advert telling you that you could have got the information from their website at blah blah dot com!!! I want to scream that I just did you mindless machine - but what is the point.

Then you get to start of a long menu of numbers for trains, buses, different regions and subregions including other subregionsof the country until you finally get to speak to a real person who...looks it up on their computer!!! If they can have recent information on their computer why can't it be on their main website.

Hocus Eye

Just call them for God's sake. Take the 20p from the server fund.
No thanks. I wish to use their advertised online help service.

That last email seems to have phased them!

I need a job like that - they got any vacancies, I only wanna work a three day week ;)

I did say that o2 never know what phones are available! Go to Carphone Warehouse, or The Link. I usually don't like The Link, but there's a girl in my local branch who is a credit to good customer service.

But their advertised online help system doesn't work...? Why not just go to an O2 store. I'm sure I've seen one in Brixton...

When O2 were BT they were completely useless. I once went into a shop to ask about their various mobile tarriffs. Person behind counter told me to ring another number.

There's not one - only a soulless Vodaphone store and a really scruffy - and queue-tastic - Carphone Warehouse.

But why the fuck should I have to go out in the rain and snow to find an answer to a simple question when their site claims to have a help line?

Because their help line sucks? If you want service don't use o2...

The very most an 0870 number can be on BT is 7.9p per minute
Of which some goes back to the company you're calling, IE in this case 02.

Now why the fuck should they make a penny out of people having to call customer services? No one calls customer services for fun...

O2 once turned me down for a phone, saying I'd failed the credit check (I have excellent credit) and telling me to apply to their credit agency to find out why. A small cheque and a small wait later, I was holding my credit report and on the phone to a nice man at the agency, who pointed out the one thing that the report didn't say -- in the list of companies who had applied to check my credit rating, one name was missing. It was 02. They hadn't even asked.

Needless to say, my letter of complaint never got an answer.

They're twunts. Leave 'em to their twuntage and find a real phone company.

o2 turned me down for credit as well. I wasn't having trouble anywhere else so I mnever bothered finding out why - I assumed it was because the last bloke who lived in my flat had done a runner without paying any of the bills and I wasn't yet on the electoral roll there. Perhaps they didn't bother checking for me either...

Either way, their customer service was so bad - before I'd even taken out a contract - that I gave up and stuck with Orange.

Fully agree with you, which is why I am with Orange who have 24/7 free call customer service.

Ditto T-mobile, iirc. I will be going to orange or back to tmobile when my current o2 contract is up.

Nothing is getting me going back to Orange, shite coverage and expensive bills weren’t fun. O2 so far has been excellent for me (one heavy bill aside my cost have dropped about 20/30% and I’ve yet to have any real coverage problems).

Your loss. I currently have Orange price matching three and I couldn't be happier.

I've got to say that I've been with 02 for 3 years (ish) now, and never had problems getting through to them at all, and they are actually really helpful and friendly.

They have freephone numbers, seems daft not to call them.

like a candle by a choirboy, i think we can safely assume that the glimmer of hope that email offered to us as a way of avoiding useless automated phone 'customer help' lines (copyright BT) is now snuffed.

I completely agree with ed on this one.
You let the small things go and the big things fall. We should all contact 02 cusomer support with a query by email, 4 or 5 times and then get well shitty with them. Make out we missed a train or something due to their shitty service.

Then really complain, full page jobby, gets lots of goodies for free.

We look the other way far too often. Their website should say 'We offer a really shit email service that is useless' if that is what they wish to offer.

Fuckemup ed.
