90's Nostalgia Thread

In some ways I always thought of Jungle as representing a failure, a failure of 'Hardcore' to be truly inclusive.

i used to like you.

seriously though, i don't agree....surely different kinds of dance music came out of the hardcore scene - and there's nowt wrong with that. a natural progression/movement if i remember correctly - and before drum and bass, jungle was very inclusive. all sorts of freaks were in to it. i know, i was there.

In relation to what's been said above - I like the fact that since dance music/Hardcore's fragemention into different scenes throughout the 90s we seem to be coming full circle at the mo' with what peeps like Tayo and the Fidgit-House scene are doing

Everybodies memeories are different depending on what time of day it was. If you hate Oasis, then you missed the point of being stoned at your mates house listening to Slide away and living cos it was the only only thing you and your mates could agree on cos it was magic. Maybe, you weren't there, maybe you were elsewhere. In which case, hope you enjoyed it.

If you insist Britpop was better than dance than, equally, you miss the point of everything other than that which was brilliant. If you go on about about some party you went to then I'm glad you enjoyed it. If you think you are cool cos you went to it then remember, you ain't at it now. To be honest the best band of the 90's were the . Not that you ignorant bastards would get that any way.

Everything from then was shit compared to now really really except that which you listen to now and what made you who you are. You could always have an argument.

Who cares.

I started with Iron Maiden and finished with Reprazent. Along the way I visited Blur, Prodigy, Pulp, GnR, MassiveTrickyHead, the Charlatans and god knows what else.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. I knew it all and in hindsight I knew nothing.

Yep, I was a teenager for most of the 90s :)

I wasn't really a fan of guitar music when I was growing up in the 90's but these are the songs that make me nostalgiac about that time:

Alice DJ-Better of Alone
ATB-9pm Till I Come
Mark McCabe-Maniac 2000
Faithless-Insomniac
Da Hool-Meet her at the Love Parade
Energy 52-Cafe Del Mar
Fragma-Tocame
Love Inc-You're a Superstar
Flexx-ible-Toss & Turn
Ann Lee-Two Times
DJ Quicksilver-Belissima
Robert Miles-Children
Babylon Zoo-Spaceman

Of course I found out about a lot of better 90's stuff later on in my life but those were the songs I was listening to as I grew up plus many many more.

They where shite though. I liked Fragma, Babylon zoo!

At the beginning of the 90s I was into:

Industrial/EBM - Front 242, Frontline Assembly, KMFDM, Nitzer Ebb, Devotion Records (Revolting Cocks, 1000 Homo DJs, Excessive Force, Acid Horse), Ministry.

On-U: Dub Syndicate, African Headcharge

I started going to Final Frontier at Club UK pretty regularly and got more into techno - generally acid in one room, Detroit style in the other. Seeing Rob Hood, Plastikman and Jeff Mills all on one night at Tribal Gathering 95 sealed which type of techno I preferred.
These two bits describe my 90s too!

Anything played at numerous parties in the Hackney/Dalston area from '94-97 really.

Dancing about looking like this ------>:)

Same here :) Did anyone here ever go to "The Spikey Thing With Curves" squat parties in Mare Street around '95-96 i think .

early - mid 90s = indie kid (suade, smashing pumpkins, nirvana, pulp, oasis...)

Mid 90's = house head (Hard Times, Shindig, Cream, Vague, Ark, Nice, Arcane etc)

Late 90's = techno / breaks head (Orbit, Viva, free parties etc breaks for djing in backrooms / house parties etc.)
