90s Bands you have probably never heard of....

Good reason people haven't heard of half these bands. Although most of them were at least semi-famous and well known as live acts, and Bbang Bang Machine even had a festive 50 #1.

Do the Moog

Knew that lot from Epsom, used to play Kingston all the time, was good mates with Jon for a bit.

I always liked Dr Phibes and the House of Wax Equations.

And the Sandals, they were 90's.

And the Rhythmites.

((((90's))))

Poisoned Electrick Head
Saw these in a park in Runcorn when i was 16, took some pics too. Butchers any chance of a copy of that CD?? Happy to trade from my extensive bootleg collection;)

I have a look and see if I can fish it out, hopefully it isn't boxed up in the attic.................

Does anyone remember a band called 'Come'? Nobody i know remembers them. Seen them live at some Preston music festival years ago. Fronted by Thalia Zedek

Come were big on my radar. Eleven:Eleven remains one of the classic albums of the early 90s and they actually toured as main support to Dinosaur Jr (with Bettie Serveert who someone else has mentioned, as the opening band) was a pretty high profile tour; I saw them at a sold out Manchester Academy around the same time as the Nevermind tour.

Been picking up albums by Zedek and Chris Brokaw ever since.

Some other names on a similar level:

SMALL 23 (labelmates of Archers of Loaf on Alias)
OLD 97s (about a million times better than Whsikeytown)
SMOKING POPES (Chicago proto-emo band)

Anyone remember Culture Shock, Radical Dance Faction, the Ooroonies or Poisoned Electrick Head?

I was also a big fan of the Cardiacs and bands like Bevis Frond, Magic Mushroom band etc at the time, i expect they all ahve normal jobs and lives now tho'.

Butcher

Use to watch RDF alot. And I liked the Cheap Suit O Roonies.

And Cardiacs are great!

And what happened to Pain? Have they all gone and reformed their previous bands?

And where are the Bagdaddies? Are they still going?

Tragic Roundabout are good...and still going on.

What about Sidi Bou Said? Did anyone see them back in the day? They sounded like a homegrown Pixies, but that's no bad thing in my book.

My ex-boyfriend was in one of their videos, fencing in a dress :D

Great band - Eleven:Eleven is a classic album.

Come were great. Zedek had a Patti Smith look about her too

The one time I saw Doo the Moog was at a little free festival in Epsom iirc. Summer 1993.

Salad...had that Dutch girl from MTV UK fronting them. Saw 'em at the Phoenix Festival. Bland.

Audioweb - terrible cover of Bankrobber and a drummer who wore headphones for not discernable reason :D
I liked Salad. ' Drink The Elixir' was a great track

They were like the house band at the Buckley Tivoli in my youth.

Them and the 25th May.

Didn't the singer get ill with the depression/schizophrenia - and kill his mother... !!??

Decent band in the day, and that LP Whirlpool was ace.

pretty sure i saw them at Calton Studios in Edinburgh and remember them being well good. Think i might have known someone who was in them, as can't really think why else we might have gone along unless they were supporting someone.

Baghdaddies are still going strong. And the main guy out of Monsoon Bassoon is, bizarrely, leading dubstep geezer Appleblim
