80's saxophone solos

Baker Street, Hazel O'Connor,Careless Whisper,Spandau Ballet ?????

BLEUUURGGGGHHHH!!!! :( :(

For me, these 80's tracks represented the WORST in schmalzy sax dribblings. which tarnished the image of the instrument for a generation.

Prince, Madness, Ian Dury - Now that's more like it - sax sounds much better when it's being played raw and funky. Should also add the Beat to this list of good '80s bands/tracks with sax.

A bit obscure, but I always really liked Lora Logic who was the saxophone player for X-Ray Specs and who did a great solo album called Pedigree Charm.

I haven't heard any of Essential Logic's music, only what she did with X-Ray Specs and the solo album. I bought Pedigree Charm when I was about 15 and recently rediscovered it. Have been playing it a lot lately.

I've got my headphones on and am listening to the Love Theme from Bladerunner. Excellent saxaphone work.

I love the one in Orange Juice's "Rip It Up", and the one in Bowie's "Let's Dance" is just mental.

Wanted to play sax as a kid, but the only people who did were tossers with quiffs and big collars and wore those thin piano key ties around their neck, which put me off.

I hate all that teddyboy rock and roll bollocks.
