7 yr old boy goes berserk in zoo: kills 13 animals (Australia)

Unless its an open plan zoo, i fail to see how any of this could have happened, let alone why the parents of a 7 year old were apparently unaware of where their child was for half an hour.

I would be unaware of where my 7 year old was for hours. Well, I knew the vague vincinity of where he was, but he certainly wasn't in my line of vision.

Yes, I was allowed out to play at that age too, as long as I didn't go beyond certain boundaries (which of course I did).

Poor animals. Poor kid. Still, hopefully this is high-profile enough that he gets lots of help. At 7, little is inevitable.

Thora seems like such a nice girl, too.

I coudn't agree more. Personally I'd be supportive of coming down hard on the parents. This kid needs removing from the 'parents' asap as they may well be the cause of the problem.

You really like the idea of removing kids from their parents, don't you? God, I hope the parents don't eat takeaways too!

There's probably a question around why a 7 year old was unsupervised for long enough to commit such carnage

I was wondering that, but I guess that seven-year-old who could break into a zoo could easily run away from his parents of whoever else was looking after him.

I reckon his parents probably need to see the world from behind some bars for a while.

Now you're trolling, surely?

We had a kid in our neighborhood who set cats on fire, blew up frogs with firecrackers, etc. When he was a teenager he broke into an elderly lady's house. He proceeded to tie her to a chair before cutting several fingers off because she couldn't get the rings off them and finally beating her to death.

They should give the entire family psych exams before they think of releasing the kid.

what a nice and thoughtful kid.

he fed 30 little animals to one big, hungry crocodile.

and even killed some first so they wouldn't feel the pain of getting chomped to death.

if he was me kid, i'd be proud.

Thanks Charlie. We always appreciate your thoughtful input.

in china they feed live animals for fun to lions and tigers -indeed you can dangle a live chicken for 4 euros into the lions den.

If what a seven year old boy takes so much comment what does all those who get involved in this sort of activity in china merit ?

the chinese are cruel ennit?
they skin animals alive instead of shooting them straight in the head.

and they also beat up tibetans and hang them upside down on trees for fun.

Fair point. However, it is more likely that the parents are at fault.
They used to blame autism on 'cold mother' syndrome until it later emerged it was complete bollox.

Automatically blaming the parents for a child's psychological condition is very dangerous stuff.

oh you can't say that the Chinese are cruel or Nigel will come and call you a 'wacist' .

the chinese aren't into moralising about chicken and reptiles.

i think the story would had been better if it was a chinese 7 year old on holidays.

'what's the big deal? our zoos do it all the time.'

poor kid. i hope he gets some help and not to say the parents rae automatically to blame but his family background definately needs to be looked into.
