6th man on the moon say's "we're not alone"

I'm worried Greg Bear might be right and that everyone out there is quiet because its so dangerous, and here we are shouting our heads off :hmm:

If you look at the way we evolved, it's amazing that we got to where we are today. There are so many times when we were nearly wiped out.

The chances of overcoming war, overcrowding, disease, pollution and natural disasters to become far more intelligent than us. Then to work out how to overcome all the problems associated with long distance space travel, then to actually travel to our planet. Pretty, pretty slim.

I do agree with you, life hangs by a thread, but life, all life, is tenacious by it's very nature.

Well in theory, we could send out crafts over vast distances now, if you don't mind a bit of Adam and Eveing it...:)
Yes, but we haven't.

However, that wasn't what I asked. You talked about the human arrogance of someone saying there can't be anyone as advanced as us. I wondered who on this thread had made such a claim.

Or Alistair Reynolds idea that space faring intelligences are wiped out in their first interstellar falterings by implacable alien machines from the future:cool:

Well, aren't the majority of posters on this thread saying that?

*Rolls up sleeves, prepares to take whole thread on*

Well, quite. But your point is?

My point is that we have done things that would have been inconceivable by our ancestors, things that they would have viewed with awe and superstitious dread.

The possibility exists, that there could be other advances, carried out elsewhere by others, that we, now, would view in the same way.

But you quoted a post of mine to say so, when nothing I have said would disagree with that.

I think many people are just to SCARED to even contemplate the idea. It's like the 9/11 conspiracies.Horrible to even think about yet the US Government did plan such an event for Cuba with Operation Northwood which is all out in the open now.The fact that this was even planned makes me have that 1% of doubt they could be telling the truth.

Is this the point to say I am actually an alien anthroplogist, and have been sited on Earth for over 7 years now.

I am concerned that I have given my own planet an impression of Earth based too heavily on urbanites.
