50 Worst Artists In Music History

Who are Primus and why do so many of my musical peers rate them? I only know the theme from South Park and it's rubbish. Maybe I'm a bit old for them. It's the same with Mike Patton - loads of my contemporaries rate him but I only really know his stuff with FNM ie We Care A Lot and Epic from the indie discos.

Glad to see The Doors they were fucking dire, and Morrison was one of the worst lyricists in history.
Hear hear - the most overrated band in history. So many good people like them and it pains me

Primus are a weird weird band. Amazingly technically gifted(apparently one of thier guitarists got turned down from metallica for being too good! I don't believe it though) but they just try and be crazy on all thier songs and forget about importent things like a tune and structure and things that would make them actully listenable. Tis a shame.

As for Patton I only know his faith no more stuff really as well I've heard a few mr bungle(i think thats what they are called) tracks but none i was overly impressed by. FNM were absolute class though.

I dont hink We Care a Lot was Patton was it? I think they had a different singer then.

See, I didn't even know that.
BTW I heard some Peeping Tom and Fantomas stuff recently and thought it was ace

You namecheck these cool bands on here but whenever I see you your listening to things like Kajagoogoo:D

The Midnight mix of Too Shy is awesome though!
The reason is though is that I listen to a lot of newer records at work and am too tight to buy them.

... typical of fuckers who don't make music or have any creative outlet. am sure all of the songs on there have gotten someone laid, or cheered someone up etc at some point. but they aren't good enough for some smug music journalist scum

the guy who wrote that, i bet his album would be utter fucking shite, but he hasn't been arsed to do a single thing except use his intelligence to tell people why records that they like are shite...

Word

Where are The Eagles, Bryan Adams and Meatlof? They represent the very worst and are continually played even today :o

Howard Jones! If you'd shown me this list in 1985, I would have cried :(

The Doors should have been in the top ten, surely?

And I kind of like David Sylvian's cover of I Second That Emotion. Is that wrong?

They are still no way in the top 50 worst ever...

Beautiful South should be in that list for one thing.

I like the beautiful south, good singing, nice tunes, you can hear the words. not like a lot of the noisy stuff kids today listen to.

a fairly good list, though i am upset to find that the live album that they say is the worst is the only one that i think is worth listening to.

but the absense of u2 is noted :(

U2
Embrace
The Charlatans

Stodgy, dreary bollocks.

The Doors should never be included despite Morrison's pomposity and pretentious lyrics. Too many great bass lines and nifty keyboard work for them to be there.

Couldn't agree more. Morrison's undoubted twattishness doesn't make The Doors one of the worst 50 bands in history.

That list's so boring and predictable it hurts. Howard Jones was a bit crap! You don't fucking say...

yes. very very VERY wrong. Just listen to the original..

Trying to cover a Smokey Robinson sung song is never a very good idea but I don't hate the Japan version purely because they at least tried to do something a bit different and 'interesting' with it.

You can't be serious?! lol :)

Afraid so Chemical. That over produced cocaine sheen abomination that is 'Hotel California' should get them in on it's own. They were truly appalling.

Nice to see Michael Bolton at #3. I was just sent his latest album to review - Bolton Swings Sinatra - and, er, it's very competent indeed.
