4th test

Exactly ;) If we win this we can say 'well, you may have beaten that England, but not this England'. :D

But it's virtually the same England :D

I think questions still have to be asked about the shape of the side and certain players, even if we win by an innings. It's a dead rubber, whatever hype we make up about KP and we've lost a fair few series recently, hell, we even toiled against NZ. Now, I think we need to see a really long hard look at virtually everyone but KP and Fred before we set off for the winter. Whether or not we win this match.

We've got the Ashes to win and I'm sorry, a dead rubber win in a test series where we've been well beaten doesn't convince me we have got the side right. Before 2005, we were much, much better than we have been for the last 12 months. I think actually, we probably do have a lot of the side right but we must not be too fooled by this performance.

What a pompous reply to a joke! :D

This is a very different england to the one i've been watching, even when we did well at lords. Its better than if say SA were 150-0.

Mate, it's the last match of the series. You probably don't remember when Athers took over - that was a 'brave new start' and 'very different.' when they beat the Aussies at the Oval. I'm sorry, I can't compare this side to the Ashes winning side until they've put a run together of 8 or 9 test wins or whatever it was that Vaughan's side did.

It's an improvement, aye, but I think saying this team can win the Ashes without even seeing them bat is stretching it a bit...

Another 'new dawn' - I was utterly convinced that Steve Watkin, Gus Fraser and Devon were the future....

*jaded*:D

Great stuff!

Here an interesting list - it's the batting averages of every England player since the Ashes. Is there anyone apart from the obvious call of Shah who has been overlooked on that list or is time for some new faces on tour.

Personally, I think Prior and Shah should both go on tour. Can't think of anyone else.

Interestingly when you look at the fielding stats, Prior has taken the exact same amount of catches as Ambrose (neither have ever made a stumping) and has faced one less innings.

194 all out..now lets see how we do with the bat. I wouldn't mind us putting SA through two or three days of torture in the field like they did to us all series.

I would actually be wary of spending too much time accumulating runs. SA are still capable of batting for 2 days solid so I'd want to score fairly quickly and be bowling at them again on Saturday.
