414 this saturday, anyone up for some sweaty techno?

It was the first club I went to when I moved to London, so for a while I thought all London club music was Nuclear Free Zone acid techno - and that was a good thing

I was a bit disappointed tipping up to Indulge down near the Mucky Duck and hearing house but the girls in furry bra tops swung it

:)

It's not about the size of the place - even if it is a little sweatbox - it's the brain-numbing monotony of the tekno played there that gets me. It's self supporting I guess, with a loyal, largely unchanging crowd.

Once in a while it's ok I guess, and I love the thump-thump and wild-eyes as I walk past to get me Sunday paper, but I haven't been there for years. Last time and it was Layo and Bushwacka playing, alongside Mary Ann Hobbs and a few others for charity. It's a shame there's not a greater variety of tuneage playing there on a more regular basis.

414 is one of the worst clubs i've been to in london, the sound system is awful and in recent years the atmosphere is always completely dead in there. it amazes how that place has managed to stay open for so long

well, everyone's entitled to their opinion :D

I've only ever been in there once before, for about 2 hours, but I had fun none the less :D

It's an utter utter shithole.

Do they still turn the water off in the toilets and charge extortionate prices for a bottle of water over the bar?

I haven't been to 414 in years. I'm definitely up for a bit of nostalgia. I wonder if the lethal spiral staircase, filthy carpet and fish tank are still there? It is an utter, utter shithole but I do quite like it. :)

Well, 414 is not as grimy as I remember it. The carpet and the fish tank have gone from upstairs, and it smells of air freshener up there. Bloody good night though; the music was top notch and the club was busy without being rammed.

e2a: Good to meet Tommers and Lemontop. :)

WIBBLE!!

I enjoyed that. I'm glad I dragged myself down there for it. Good to see peeps again, and to meet Lemontop and Tommers

didn't stay for the after party, but i should have, cos I waited for an hour outside the station before it opened :D (along with about 400 other drugged up munters) Anyway, football's on,and I'm in no fit state to do much.

happy sunday all. :)

that was excellent!! I'd never been to the 414 before and I was v.impressed, really friendly atmosphere there and I loved the music:)

Wasn't it just! I did have an urge to run away about 4am but am v glad I stayed to the end, the music just got better and better.

You can't really argue with a club like that playing some of the best techno available to humanity 10 min walking distance from your home.

Apols to everyone gergl inflicted his ''Is techno better than sex''-debate on; I'm pleased to say that we did clarify this matter for once and all when we got home. ;)

good to put some names to faces. did that bloke ever wake up and move his beer bottle? it was a good night / morning... it's been a while since we last went, got to love the 414, even the new smarter version...

And?

That was a really good night, very good music. Very nice to bump into the urban lot  We ended up there as a total spur of the moment thing after drinks for a friend's birthday.
I wish we could have stayed longer but had to go home and prepare food for a bbq the following day, had stupidly invited friends round with kids etc. I was not quite the hostess with the mostess.

I think I need to conduct my own extensive investigations ;)

I've still not been to 414... sounds like you all had a good time

hehe I recognise a few faces there - although didn't know what any of you looked like..except Gergl but I didn't see you there
I thought Stirling Moss played some wikkid techno at the end, really bouncy screamy stuff..
..hadn't been to the 414 for ages, shame that the fish got kicked out, have had some good discussions with them over the years;)

Was you there then?

I spent the night looking a little something like this
