360 vs PSP!

Well... Since you state there aren't any decent games for the PSP, and I contend there are, then perhaps we have a different perception of what a decent game is...?

Ok...name your top five games then.:D

Nice list, nothing original just PS2 ports all round...

I don't have a PSP and have only played two games on it Ridge Racer and GTA Liberty Stories neither of which were particularly great.

Thats because I buy PSP games to play on the move... I don't have much time to play games on an aging PS2 at home, and so I don't want to waste time/money on unknown games... So I tend to buy games that I *know* I will enjoy... (Either ones I've played on a PS2, or games that are recommended here)

So not the best person to tell us about the PSP, then...? :D

Er I've played the PS2 plenty! And from what I've seen the PSP is little more than a dumping ground for PS2 ports.:p

so you deny your neotenicity then ... intresting why aren't you preparred to wait til march only 2 months away for games to come out then...
because i didn't pay for a 360 to do nothing with it.

Assuming anything decent is coming out in march (not so far, Mass Effect has no fixed date).

And from the games I've played in stores the DS is a dumping ground for Mario games...! :D

play tony hawks for a bit then get good at it then you can invite me round with the handicap of playing ona 360 controller and having to learn new buttons configurations you might only get beaten by say a few millon points... ;) this should keep you occupied til march getting your arse whipped solidly as you are cained into the ground by all commers ... then you'll have some new games to play... volia sound choice all round... you get to enjoy games with repeat playablity and i get to kick your ass... :D

i played tony hawks; got bored of it. its ok apart from the appalling framerate and the crap online modes. Like all games its good for a while (then it gets traded in for something new), which is fine with me except now i have come to find nothing new.
I don't think ive everplayed a game that kept me interested over and over for 3 months.

Animal Crossing, Advanced Wars, Brain Training, Metroid, Nintendogs, Trauma Centre, Pheonix Wright? Yeah sure, dumping ground for Mario games...:p

i've never even heard of the word. Should I care about it? I play the games I like then i get rid of them to get new games. That a problem for you? It's how i can afford expensive video games.
I still dont' see the relevance.

The PSP has loads of great games.

I'm really disappointed with my 360; not so much the machine (though the dashboard is a marvel of inconvenience), but the compelte lack of any decent games. Really, unless you like buggy poorly designed rubbish or shooters (of which there seem to be a lot at present) there is nothing out - with the promise of nothing on the horizone. It's lookng like I won't be getting anything till March out this rate (assuming Mass Effect isn't a stinker).
So I was thinking of trading in and getting a PSP. Many would see this as a step back and in some ways it is of course: the PSP has a tiny screen and is a portable console. However the games look a lot more innovative on balance and there seem to be many titles that at least appeal to me (certianly some decent beatemup action of which there is a dearth on the 360). So my question is: do you think this a good idea? Is the PSP worth it, or is it really just a poor man's console like most handheld toys (I do NOT want a DS; im not a girl). :D

What's wrong with Dead Rising?

it describes the concept of having intrest only in the new, once it become familar you loose interest. the enjoyment from something is not derived from the thing itself but from the purchase of something new which has attached expectations to it which once these are experinced do it does not live up to so you need to get another fix of the new by further purchases.

all games have bugs hell games like gta ahve more bugs than an insect stall in mid summer, but to deny one of the instantly replayable aspcet of them is a classic sign that the joy assertained from the games wasn't the games themselves.

well it has a limited shelf life as its just a single player game with a finite story. It is by and large a good game although i hated the story elements as i thought they were badly implemented; rescuing people was impossible. I woudl have preferred a more sanboxy type game, but it wasnt bad. It was however, as i say, a finite gaming experience.

Not all games are Final Fantasy.

my favourite games? hmmm....

Soul Calibur 3 (4 had some silly ideas that spoilt it a bit).
I lurve the mortal kombat games even tho they aren't technically great or even balanced! (if MKA was released on PAL i'd keep the 360).
Spiderman 2 because freereaming sandbox stuff is fun, ans superheroism makes it even more so. I like GTA, but they are getting a bit blah now. Saints Row was good on the whole (tho at the time of playing the online was borked), but ultimately it's a finite experience and had no real next gen content (San Andreas was 4 times the size fo Stillwater! FFS!)
X Men Legends/2/Marvel Ultimate Aliiance (they're practically the same game). Ironically the PSP version, to emphasise the point about that console, has more unique content than any other version and more modes. Whether they are any good or not I don't know, nor do i know how playable it is on such a small screen.

Can't really start buying PS2 games right now since i don't actually own one. I'm tryign to sell my 360. I don't really want a wii for the same reason i don't want a ds; anything goodon the wii i have already seen for the 360 and would rather play that version. thing with the wii is that it's really just a gimmick and i don't really want to play mario type games or wii sports stuff. i haven't seen anything out for the wii that appeals to me (and i've looked!).

I think you'd be better off with a PS2 or maybe waiting a year and getting a PS3. There are loads of good games on the horizon for the 360 but not really the ones you like.
