22mb slower than my old 2mb connection

Not sure about the 22mb service but my 8mb uk online service is capped to 500gb per month. :(

Half a terabyte a month sounds like a challenge rather than a limit.

3 DVD isos a day!

Ulp, That sounds nasty. Welcome to p2p purgatory :(

Looks like new ISP or change your surfing habits time

If any of their sites experience contention, they ought to have the good sense to increase the bandwidth rather than throttling (pardon the pun) peoples connections. BB should be unlimited. It's certainly fucking advertised that way.

He said because ADSL2 is new, it takes a couple of days for the line to reach full speed. He told me I should be getting 18.5mb once it's up and running.

That's the biggest crock of shit i've heard in a long time.

I'm on ADSL2 and I connect at 18.5 meg down, 1.3 up. - But I know other people that are getting less than 4meg with the same supplier. The biggest problem with ADSL2 as far as I can tell is background noise on your line, and the decreasing strength of signal over a distance (attenuation). If your attenuation rate is high, your speeds will be low. And no, it doesn't take time to "warm up."

I have fixed the problem if anyone is intrested. Turns out I needed to update the firmware on my router.

I am now downloading at 2mb/s!

Hurrah!

The fuckers who I got my connection from told me it was 1 meg per second, but it's only 522kps, according to a test I just did.

Still, it was only 40 quid for a year so I guess I can't moan too much
