Sorry I dissed John Cusack - I like him really it's just that I'm sick of the Christian bollocks that disaster movies always ram down my throat and I thought he was better than that :(.

That's like a cross between a unicorn and a blowjob.
No. The Day After Tomorrow was one of the worst films I've ever seen. I wasn't expecting it to have great characters and plot. But equally I wasn't expecting it to be so gosh-darned boring. I got it on DVD and I actually ended up fast-forwarding most of the film because it was that fucking dull.

Went to see it with my grandchildren last night. 30 mins too long but for what it was the effects were spectacular to say the least. I could tell that by the way my grandson was eating his popcorn faster and faster during the action scenes that he was enjoying it and he's 11. I'm 58 and a lover of Scorcesse movies but I enjoyed this jape very much.
I am glad however that I took some cotton wool in with me for my ears because it was freakin noisy to the nth degree!!
The sound when Yellowstone goes off is ear splittingly loud.

It ain't gonna win any oscars by a long chalk. A good night out to be had though if you accept it for what it is. Better than 'Day after tomorrow', better than 'independence day'.
I give it 6-7/10 for entertainment value.

Absolutely: I enjoyed it. The scenes of destruction were astonishing. The broad stroke characters were well-cast, entertaining... and very attractive (especially Thandie Newton!) and it was just very entertaining!
