19th Sept - anywhere open?

friendofdorothy

Solidarity against neoliberalism!
I don't like funerals.

Ok next Monday is a bank hol - so banks, postoffices and libraries are definitely closed. Also Brixton rec is closed and my online exercise class is cancelled. Mysocial has cancelled all their events. I hear big supermarkets are closed too. Asked in San Marino today and they are closed too.

I'm supposed to be meeting a friend on monday, where can we go for a coffee or a drink? Preferably somewhere with wall to wall morners or tv tuned to the Funeral.

Where is open?

My local in Leeds is open to show the funeral on a big screen so we can all watch it n have a pint. Yours might be?

Holland is open, I may have mentioned once or twice that this is where I'll be..
If you live in the south-east, get across the channel as a foot passenger.
I've done Dover-Calais frequently.
There might also be a Dunkirk service for foot passengers as well.
Day out, fresh sea air, life on the ocean waves and all that duty free!

Not up to travelling, but thanks anyway. Hoping to stay near home in Brixton or near by (and this is the Brixton Forum)
Will TFL and trains generally be running normal or bank hol service?

Most places don't seem to update their websites and I dont use twitter / insta so please let me know of anywhere, preferably without large screens showing weeping hoards. Ta

hard to tell. Although not a huge difference on most london routes now.

TFL page here. I have heard it suggested that it will be close to a normal Monday service, but run an hour later at night.

And any bus route that goes near central london (or anywhere on whatever route they are taking between London and Windsor) will be affected.

Wetherspoons pubs in C London will be open all day. Otherwise opening at 1pm (Beehive). Other pub groups are open. Stonegate (Hand in Hand in New Park Road, Be At One in Clapham), Mitchell & Butler, Fullers and Greene King pubs staying open to show the funeral. GK own the Prince Albert, Florence in HH and Alexandra at Clapham Common. Probably best to ring in advance.

My hospital is open. Might be able to fit you in for a quick procedure- what do you fancy? 😆

...they probably think they dont need disabled toilets if thats the only way in.
They've been painted and maybe levelled up a bit. It was shocking how Antic left the front looking so shit for so long. It took them ages to put in those benches - before that people would walk by not knowing there was a pub there.

front steps were a bit tricky in the past...have they changed ?
Its not only those step up, there are even more steps down to the bar and the loos. Then of course you have to come back up and down again to get out.

Disabled people aren't just those using wheelchairs, but those using sticks, crutches and those with heart complaints, cancer, balance problems, ME fatigue and sight problems/blindness. And that just describes some of the complaints of my older queer group.

yeah lack of awareness generally is what i was trying to highlight....

cafe max was lovely and doing a brisk trade. They did have the funeral on one tv and a Portugese channel on the other, but don't think any customers were taking notice of either.

The Asda by me opened at 5pm today. I had a hankering for some Snickers ice-cream and i also needed maple syrup. Assuming it would be quiet i decided to nip over for when it opened and get it out the way.

It was the busiest i've seen it since everyone went crazy for toilet paper. Madness :D
