12 weeks to xmas - time for a new diet!

when i was about 19 and at my heaviest ever my mum () put me on scottish slimmers. ugh. still - lost about a stone and have just about managed to keep it off since then, staying around the 9 and a half stone mark. would love to be 9st though... and the only time i got into the eights was after being dumped :D was getting there again but think i fucked it last night with an xmas meal...

i do find that exercise works wonders with me though - shame that i hate it!

...anyways, good luck everyone :)

ps sorry boring post :o

Not at all! Well done for keeping it off, that's really good.

I need to find an exercise that I love... Well, I love riding my bike, and doing that 40 mins to work and 40mins back 5 days a week over summer really helped me shift some weight, but it's pitch black on the country lanes all the way home now, and people tear down them in cars, it's really not safe to bike anymore :(

I used to do 3 dance classes a week which kept me so lean and skinny, I probably ate as much as I do now but was 1 or 2 dress sizes below what I am now. I stopped going when I went to university, and now I'm back I really want to go back to my old dance school, it's the only exercise apart from biking that I really enjoy. I would love to do a martial art as well though, money is always an issue with classes though!

I think WW is great as well - good luck idoteque!

It's basically the same thing as calorie counting, but less complicated, innit.

Thanks han! I think it's going well at the moment, it helps that I live with both of my parents and they are on it too, so we've always got healthy stuff in.

My poor sister though, I think she'll go mad soon if we don't get some fish and chips in :D

Yeah, in the countryside, cycling's pretty dangerous at night innit. Hmmm. Where abouts are you - is there a beach you could jog on, or something? :D

I know what you mean about the cost of classes. I do enjoy classes like boxercise etc. but they ain't arf expensive and so I generally do exercise that's free (I did manage to lose 2st with this method a couple of yrs ago so I know it can work!).

I totally know what my thing is though - booze. If I cut it out completely for a bit after new year, or manage to cut down and be really moderate, the weight drops off.

I'm not that far from the Essex coast, but I can't drive so frustratingly I can't actually get there! I am surrounded by fields to jog around though, I keep meaning to try jogging but have a bit of a stupid mental block against it, I reeeeally hate running!

Boxercise sounds cool  There's a Capoeira class near me that I reeeeeally want to go to because it looks amazing, but it's on the one night that I work in the week :(

How are you finding cutting out the alcohol? Is it hard or manageable? I suppose it has a lot to do with what you're doing socially.

I do really think if you hate something, there's no point in doing it. I hate running and I've realised it's pointless me trying. I lost 2st by just cycling and cutting down on portion size/booze last year and I absolutely LOVE cycling so I don't think jogging is necessary by any means! How about power-walking round those fields? Really fast, vigorous walking can burn off as much cals as jogging.

Well I'm not cutting it out before NYE! :D But I am doing really well at not drinking at all except on social events. Which, in the run up to Xmas, means I am drinking quite a bit but never at home. And also being quite moderate when I do drink (except the odd occasion :o )

How about you? how're you getting on? It sounds like you're on track to me!

how hard should it be, i mean seriously, when given some choccies for Xmas NOT to scoff the entire lot in one go?! Aaaarghhh!!! :(

I'm not standing on the scales till January. My broken foot means no exercise, limited activity and comfort eating. I get the feeling from the belly resting on my lap that I'm reaching my heaviest ever weight of 10st 3lbs which doesn't suit my 5ft 3" frame at all.

A very good friend of mine has lost a few stone after having a baby about 28 months ago. She is looking really good and I'm thinking christ look at me with my excess poundage and I have not had kids.

I have totally fallen into a pile of chocolate, booze and general excess these last few days. I intend to continue all through xmas. I'll no doubt be back to my starting weight by New Years!

I think at xmas we just have to accept these little things... and get ready to join han's New Year Diet thread in Jan :D

It's hopeless, isn't it; thank goodness for all that effort in October and Nov :D

Back in the gym on the 30th, honest!

Merry Christmas weight-shifters!!

You're all right! :D

I'm just enjoying Xmas, back on the wagon on 1st Jan.

(I'll put a new thread up after Chrimbo ;) )

Merry Christmas everyone! :) x X x

UGH UGH, just looking at the post xmas photos, i look like a whale :( so depressed. MUST DIET.

why is the first sign that i've put on weight my MASSIVE DOUBLE CHIN??? i'm too scared to stand on the scales... i reckon i've put on about half a stone!
