12 weeks to xmas - time for a new diet!

good luck people! I've just started a diet too. Or rather, just eating healthily and doing more exercise. Don't have too much to lose but the aim is 9st!

I have a pair of 34" white jeans I'm aiming to slip into with a little bit to spare - by the Spring, I hope. Maybe.

Anyway, I'm 2 1/2 weeks into a kind of pre-diet, this-is-to-insane-to-get-my-head-around emergency reaction. So far so ok; exercise and diet on course. No stop 'til Christmas!

Keep the faith all!

Good going, Han!! Half a stone is a great start and every lost lb is a good one!

I've lost another 2lbs - 10lbs in total so far...also just another 2.5 stone to go....but let's not dwell. Still going for 1lb a week till Christmas.
(shame about tonight's pizza, tho...)

I weigh myself for the first time next Monday, after 4 weeks. My guess is I've put on 4 or so lbs of muscle in my quads and calfs so the scales will LIE! Be interesting though. Keep on keeping on folks!

wow - that's brilliant han  and well done Ceej!

my official weigh-in day is tomorrow... but I think I have lost another 2 lbs this week, which is on track.... since my whopping 6lb loss in week 1, I have a new goal for xmas which is 9 stone! see how it goes as that's over a stone to lose....

am worried about these coming two weekends as am away for both and not drinking will be almost impossible! eek!

good luck for Monday LC :)

Nice one Ceej - 10lb - wow :) Yep, just focus on 2lb a week - that's the way to do it.

London_Calling - if you've put on muscle but no fat, then even if the scales say you've lost nothing, you have, effectively. What you need is one of them fancy scales that tell you muscle to fat ratio! I got one recently - they're ace. Good luck.

Well done Crusty - yeah, drinky weekends are a hard one, aren't they. I don't know what works for you, but if I know I'm having a laaarge weekend, I just make sure I'm really good in the week, eat small portions all the time (incl weekend) and try and drink halves, ,and slowly....can still get pissed and have a laugh but just not completely overdo it!

Thanks! Yep, I'm using scales at the gym that measure things like BMI and body fat %. Notoriously difficult to get accurate readings though so it'll be interesting to see how this goes, just hoping BMI goes down even if headline weight doesn't.

Keep going folks - 10 weeks left!

Fakeplasticgirl, you'll slow down your metabolism and send your body into starvation mode if you don't eat *wags finger*

Try loads of food with very few calories/fat....I'm going heavy on the vegetable-and-bean-or-lentil soup...every day for lunch and trying to have it a couple of times a week for dinner too.
(apart from the pizza, obviously...hey, no-one's perfect)

Well done, everyone - 10 weeks to go!

Had my first weigh-in today - it's been four weeks.

As I mentioned above, the least I'm awarding myself for increased muscle is four lbs because my quads are like prize winning marrows. Anyway, the headline weight loss is 10lbs - yee HAW! So that's a stone of fat in four weeks, very much at the top end of expectations. I can now relax a little about my methodology and just get my head down with it for a while. Veh, veh pleased, but a heck of a long way to go.

Currently planning to weigh-in again in six weeks - I'm hoping for a very ambitious at 2.5lbs a week over that period but I am going mental in the gym and avoiding all junk. We'll see.

Keep on folks! 9 1/2 weeks left!!

wow - that's amazing L_C! you must be super pleased with yourself :)

I have survived my weekend away without too much damage. Only 1000 kcals over my normal plan, so that shouldn't be too much to make up with eating less/exercising before WI on Friday... a sneaky look at the scales this morning also implies that I haven't put on any immediate weight.....

thanks. tbh, I let things get so way, way out of control it's difficult to feel pleased. Perhaps more relieved I'm taking steps and they are working. If I muster the balls, I'll post the data in relation to calories burned, BMI, body fat, etc.

Well done for the weekend!

well done you lot

I've done well this week, despite only going to the gym once, I've lost 3lbs. though I think that was mostly to do with not really eating over the weekend :o

Congrats everyone!
I was made of FAIL this weekend... mates from edinburgh visiting which meant cocktails, noodles and a massive slice of (delicious) ginger cheesecake. Then yesterday I was too hungover to cook and gorged on a pizza. :( Aaarghhh!!

Well done Tanky - that's fab!

i too have been completely failing to go to the gym - :(

what happened at the weekend that you didn't eat  I couldn't imagine forgetting to eat :hmm:

can't quite keep myself off the scales.... so, another 2lbs down today :) hope it stays off for the official WI on Friday! yay....

I'll be back in the nines by next week all being well! huzzah!

I've been avoiding this thread because I didn't go to the gym at all in the run-up to my exam and my mate got back from travelling which involved some indulgence, and then there was a week of post-exam hedonism, so I was convinced I'd put about half a stone on in the past month (yes, I was avoiding the scales too!)

Finally bit the bullet and weighed myself this morning, and discovered to my amazement that I haven't put on any weight at all! I can't believe it. That means I've still got a chance of losing half a stone before Xmas, rather than having to lose the additional half-stone I thought I'd gained. I am so chuffed!

Edit: Well done so far everyone, by the way :)

well I seem to have put on about 5lbs since this time yesterday :D don't you just love scales

I don't feel 5lbs heavier, so that's alright :D

You can gain or lose 4lbs just by placing bathroom scales on carpet or wood.

Over longer periods you get a trend from them but that's about it. The rest is bullshit from the weightloss industry, IMO.

Wow, I had a major grump on from yesterday; the gym was just too much and the day was tragic. Much better after todays session and this pm. Over the hump I hope and back ON IT.

9 weeks on Friday, folks!
