100 Greatest Family Films

I'm so tired of everyone who was involved in the Wizard of Oz going on about it being the best film ever and every element of it being the best [element] ever. It's boring! 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' is not the greatest song of the last 100 years, not by a long shot
Can anybody tell me the name of the woman who sang a haunting version and died at a young age. (This is not a quiz - I just can't remember her name).

BTW - I don't mean Judy Garland

was Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory on there? i've never seen it but have heard its great

No it's not, it's rubbish. The book is wonderful. And it's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, ffs, not Willy Wonka.

My mum and Dad took me to see the Railway Children when I was little, then bought me the record so I could hear the story again and again.
I loved Jenny Agutter. I didn't even mind Bernard Cribbins.
Did they mention that one? It's my all time favourite 'famileh' film.

Is it just me that thinks ET is boring mawkish rubbish? And that Dumbo is better than The Lion King? Ok, that last one probably is just me.

It's just you in regard to ET, but I agree about Dumbo, which is the best of all the animated Disney films IMO.

I much preferred 'Return to Oz'. It's closer to the L.Frank Baum books, and even as a kid, when everyone was complaining that it was 'scary', I thought it was brilliant, whilst I could tell that the original sucked.

Had a look through the full list of results and most the ones I thought should be there made it.

My personal faves are:

Watership Down
The Princess Bride
The Goonies

Goonies is excellent. Watership Down far too sentimental and depressing and I've never seen The Princess Bride but I keep hearing about it and saw a clip of it when this programme was on.

Does not seem to be that cheap on any of the usual sites I order from. I think that I paid about £6.00 for it and it seems to be around £10 - £12 at the moment.

It is worth every penny of £10 though...

Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father prepare to die
