100 Greatest Detroit Songs

One John Lee Hooker track isn't really representative is it?

Plenty run of the mill motown tracks though:(

Lists don't really work with music IMO

The Top 20 is pretty decent but like all "Top 100" they start to put in some padding and stick to a few obv genres.

Surely it's a bit pointless getting huffy because such and such a song or act was or wasn't included. ... how much fucking amazing music across a huge numer of genres has come from Detroit

But I LIKE getting all huffy - it's who I am, one big huffball :D ;)

Last point - totally agree  It is one absolutely magic place

You're right, that was a bit of a boringly reasonable post for the music forum :D

tries again...

*Splutter*

How DARE they!!!111!! How could they not include a single Gerald Mitchell track on the list??? And only one Underground Resistance tune? They should have included their entire back catalogue!!! And why is 25 Miles by Edwin Starr only 'bubbling under', huh? It's better than LOADS of the tracks in the top 100!!!11! Whoever complied this list should be locked in irons and transported to Norfolk Island for the rest of their pathetic music hating lives

I find it quite ironic that Europeans know more about Detroit's history of music than the actual people who live in Detroit :D

People go mad for Detroit techno over here!
I'm on a Detroit mailing list with people from all over the world on it

yea, every summer they do some HUGE techno-fest in downtown that draws people from all over the world. something like 100,000 people.

never in the history of U75 has a list been read so badly by so many!

"no fucking XXX."
"yes there is"

"ok, but where are YY?"

"they're there too"

etc :D

Disappointed no DJ Assault in the top 100, but pleased they picked his "Ass-N-Titties" as bubbling under. It's difficult with him to pick one song because they generally last under a minute.
