Customers at Oxygen can now buy this most natural of highs in the form of two litre (25-30 puffs) or eight litre (70-80 puffs) canisters each containing 99.5% pure oxygen for £10 and £14 respectively.

That Aristotle doesn't know what he's talking about... :D

Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle..etc... ad nauseum...

Exactly. You'd need a few gold ingots if you had to pay for that every day.

Aristotle - yeah, bet he went to University didn't he. I hate graduates. Think they're so clever

;)

Back to the thread title!!!

There is an application in for no.100 - which is the postal address of both Christine's and Selector

Change of use of the ground floor and basement from A1 (Retail) to A3 (Hot food and Drink) use, along with associated alterations including a replacement shopfront.

That's because they fucked up with the address on the application and put 100 instead of 102 (according to my sources) :D

All the more reason to send in a short objection now - if everyone assumes that it is a foul-up and no one objects, the property owners of no.100 could end up with a building with planning permission for a takeaway without needing to ask.

That could hit their current tenants the next time their rent comes up for review.

There will probably have to be a completely new application for 102.

What would you like the shop to become then?

Morning folks,
I can confirm that the planning permission thing for number 100 IS for number 100, meaning the closure of both Christine's and Selectors. My neighbours have been out and got a copy of the architect's plans for the exterior. In brief, they want to put in 2 new doors on St Saviour's Road, next to the billboard, one a basement exit, the other a kitchen entrance. The front would also be redeveloped, but haven't got drawings of that.

Can't find out anything more specific about the hot food use, though, and it's interesting that the application includes the basement. Almost like someone's planning a proper sit-down restaurant. I'd be very sorry to see two established businesses go, especially when half of the Hill seems to be up for rent. Then again, feeling sorry is not, as I understand it, grounds to register an objection.

I still think the telly shop would make a fantastic caff/restaurant, cos it's got it's own little concrete forecourt. Then again, what do I know?

Good to know that other people on this board share my dreams of re-opening an old cinema. I'd love to know what survives upstairs at the old camping shop.

well if there's enough of us we can all chip in a tenner and buy it between us. we just need 100,000 people. there's enough urbanties aren't there...

;)

who's in?

i'll go to twenty if we can have a Hal Hartley season

well if we're chucking in twenty quid each, then we only need...um...50,000 people. and there's...oh, it's 17,000 or so urbanites. for some reason i thought it was 170,000.

anyway.

i'll match dub's bid. we've bought one brick so far....

So the hairdressers itself is going?

if you are wanting to object to hot food takeaway probably best to phrase your objection based on the smells that will arise as well as posible noise creation of late night patrons using the establishment close to a residential area. also cite if its true the proliferation of other takeaways in the area and reiterate the need to keep builidngs in A1 retail use. good luck.

skipping back to the other side of the street..went to Ibex for the first time tonight. Good food, astonishing value. I'm starting the capaign tio keep it. You can't eat an arthouse movie, can you? :p

I already started the campaign... :p

I will be very sad if Ibex goes.... I've been to that restaurant more than any other in Brixton and it's only been open for about a year.....

ah well if you're doing it no need for me to get involved :p
allegiance is herewith transferred to the Wasabi Noodle Bar ;)

Shite... but I also want the Japanese noodle bar... can't we have both??

ooh ooh ooh.. I know.. can't we get the noodle bar to open in no.100 instead..

:D

Number 100 is slated to be a Southern Fried Chicken outlet. I'm objecting.

Lang Rabbie may correct me on this, but doesn't the fate of the noodle bar and Ibex depend on the terms of their lease, which any new freeholder will automatically take over?

Also, Mr Khan's dreaming if he thinks he's going to get anywhere close to £1m. Those freeholds will be on the market for a while yet....

Ok... I'm officially confused. I thought that Onyx/Dawn of the Raj was becoming the Wasabi Japanese Noodle Bar. Ibex is staying as Ibex unless Mr Khan can get a million squid for it and no.100 is going to become - yawn - a fried chicken venue..

right??

I suspect Mr Khan has granted short leases to keep some cash coming in while he pursued his unsuccessful planning applications for his redevelopment plans.

There is a single freehold registered for both of the shops:

Don't know if anyone has noticed but the shop next to Christine's which used to sell African Art has now r-opened as an African clothing shop.
