TBH I'm just glad that most of the blokes I served with are out by now. It was bad enough sitting around waiting for the "go" to start packing for the Falklands (luckily it never happened), at least everyone had an idea it would be a finite campaign, but this clusterfuck? We could still be sending troops over there come 2010 or later.

One ex army guy on the politics show ( Tim Collins I think) says the area where we are to go is Taliban and drug lord central!
It could be a bloodbath ffs as it always has when the Brits have ventured into this area throughout history ( Khyber/Crimea, etc). Look at how many Russians died here in the 80s!

TBH I don't think he has much of a grasp about just how important the issue of troops dying in Iraq, and of the occupation of Iraq itself, is to how the UK gets presented to those countries where hunger and disease are rife.
