£210 return train fare to Blackpool

Hollis said:
Simple.. using qjump, the trainline, etc.. Not being able to take time off work.

Interestingly.. my conclusion was the best option was probably going to be to fly using ryainair.. about £20 going, £50 coming back Monday morning.

However the guy I was meant to be going with got his dates all fucked up so its all hypothetical now anyway.

peace!

result!

A result of sorts... it was fun working out.. And there's also a national express bus leaving 11pm gets into London 6am..

All hypothetical now.. I shall not go to the Blackpool Punk Festival...:(

A couple of weeks ago I looked into the idea of going to Cornwall to hit the beach for a bit. By train it is ridiculously expensive and a pain in the arse journey involving transfers and something like a twelve hour journey not arriving until the next day. Or you can fly from Manchester for a fraction of the price and a fraction of the time.

For a government that's allegedly supposed to be encouraging rail travel and other environmentally-more-friendly travel, it's doing a piss poor job of cracking down on the rail operators and making them provide affordable fares. But then the whole affordable fares, increased use of public transport thing conflicts with overcrowding and rail companies wanting to make obscene profits.
