£11,000,000 + £6,250,000 + £5,500,000 = Emile Heskey Transfer Fees

Genghis - Thanks for that interesting quote from Bascombe back there. I had only read Fowler's views in his book but Bascombe's quote confirmed that 'he was being used' by Houllier and that his inexperience meant he didn't realise it was happening.

Back to Heskey - another large factor in his abilities is his confidence. He comes across as immensely shy and a very, very nice guy. I always thought if he had a bit of arrogance and spite about him he could have been awesome. Then he defied my logic by beating up half the Turkish team that night :D

Does anyone remember his debut for England? In a friendly against Argentina. The game ended 0-0 but he did everything except score, the Argentina defence actually looked terrified of him.

£11m for Heskey! lol.
:D

Those were the days eh!

Liverpool paid £11m to Leicester for Heskey.

Arsenal paid £11m to Marseille for Henry.

Is there any comparison (other than the size of the transfer fee) ?

I don't think so.

There's no doubt that Liverpool have brought some great players through the ranks (Keegan, Highway, Gerrard, Fowler, Carragher) to name but a few but haven't they bought some crap also ?

Arsenal also paid £12m for Wiltord.

And houllier paid £12m for Diouf.

I blame the french.

Keegan was bought from Scunthorpe btw.

Liverpool paid 10 mill for Diouf = terrible waste of money.........

Hypia cost under 3 mill I think. Bargain.

Swings and roundabouts.
