I only just found this out. Everyone knows about the imminent drinking ban on the tube, but it wasn't until a news report this morning that I'd heard it also applies to the bus and DLR.
I don't travel on the tube that often, but use buses quite frequently. Has this been kept quiet, or have I just not noticed it?
Bus party anyone?
They are going to do it on trains soon too. Not sure how they are going to do the cut off period - "We are about to pass into greater london where it will be illegal for you to consume alcohol on this train, if you have bought an alcoholic beverage with you on your journey, or from the buffet car or the buffet trolly please stop consuming it in . . . . 3. . . 2. . . . 1. . . . NOW!"
I don't think the train companies will agree to ban alcohol on long journeys, cos they make a lot of money from it.
IIRC there was some suggestion that the government were considering a national alcohol ban on public transport.
I'm sure that'll go down beautifully with the train operating firms making a healthy profit from flogging cans of warm, nicely shaken lager at £2.50 a pop from the buffet car...
£2.50? And the rest - I pad £4.50 for a can of lager and a big packet of crisps last week.
I agree with the ban on bus drinking though.

As for the ban on buses, I can't see what the fuss is all about and I'll bet 99% of people outside the capital agree. Drinking on buses has been banned in most places for some time, if it was ever allowed to begin with..........
tbh, i never drink on the bus or the tube, but long train journeys, i do like to have a can or two

I imagine alcohol can still be bought from buffet cars. Imagine the ban more to do with people drinking from cans, bottles etc. Personally I think it is very poor form to drink on buses and tubes. It looks really tacky and as though the person doesn't give a stuff about anyone else.
Also, I imagine a lot of the folk drinking on public transport would have a right fit if anyone suggested they had a drink problem, yet drinking on public transport to get from here to there (lets face it, no journeys are excessively long) suggest some who has all their priorities wrong.
To sum up, I despise the selfish inconsiderate losers who drink on public transport.

Ok. But first I think you should apologise for suggesting that people should be excluded from public transport for wearing the wrong clothes.
I can see no reason why that would require an apology. A difference of opinion (I assume you don't share mine) isn't an offence, unless, of course, you want to make it one.
