I asked because jpm came across as though they were speaking for Hill. I wanted to know (and still do) if that is so.
Also I don't think that "How is Keith Hill as an MP?" can be reduced down to rehashing the arguments for or against the Gulf War.
Which is why I mentioned in my post that the possible hypocrisy he exercised
over his position vis a vis Iraq (claiming concern and a neutral position and then voting with the government) for me merely echoed previous dealings I've had with him where he did exactly the same, leading me to a strong suspicion that he will almost always vote with the government, however much concern his constituents have expressed to the contrary.
nb. Am I right in thinking he was also been Minister for London (1999 - 2001)?

You can find a not very good picture of Keith Hill behind Blair at the Liaison committee as his back up today here

when i lived in streatham in the mid-90s, he was a pretty good constituency MP, and streatham CLP - a notoriously fractious lot - were pretty happy with him as an MP. still a blairite tho'

My friends in Balham (just on the Lambeth side of the border with Wandsworth, and therefore constituents of Keith Hill) said he was pretty fair when an opposition MP in the 90s (I think he was first elected in 1992).

They don't much like him now, mainly for his Blairite status and his support for Iraq war.

Someone said that being a PPS was effectively a demotion, and technically a backbencher, both of which are true, but he IS the Prime Minister's PPS. Expect further promotions, at least for as long as Blair's around anyway ...

I am certainly not speaking for Mr Hill! I am sure as a public figure he is perfectly capable of speaking up for himself.

Nothing CT about it, it's the way you worded your first reply.

Which is, of course, why a couple of us asked if you had an interest (say as a parliamentary researcher, relative of the "great man" or his satsuma dealer) to declare.

    Quite simple really.
