View Full Version : Kingswood Road (Brixton Hill/Clapham Park Borders)
Hi Folks,
Me and Mrs are carrying on our quest to buy our first flat and I wondered if any of you guys lived around the Kingswood Road area?
We've been looking pretty much all over South London, though want to stay in Lambeth in the Brixton/Oval/Stockwell area, but due to the high prices haven't had much joy so far.
Anyhow, we've found something we really like...but would like to know what any of you folks think of this part of Brixton? The flat is located on the corner of Kingswood Road bordering on Saxby Road. It's basically the Brixton side of Kingswood Road if that makes any sense!
Thanks In Advance

Sorry don't know that part of Brixton very well. There are some posters who live up Brixton Hill though -- Minnie the Minx for example.
How far up the hill is it? The only thing I would say is that it can be a bit dodgy at night -- friends of mine have had attempted muggings and there's also a bit of a problem with prositution. Your girlfriend might feel a bit uncomfortable with that, I dunno. Maybe try making the journey a couple of times after dark and see how you feel?
Good luck.

I know that road. S'not a bad bit of the area - quiet, nice houses, altough parking can be pretty tight. You've got corner shops, offies & pubs up the hill on New Park Road, although that's a fairly grotty street IMHO. Buses are a bit pony too, depending on which end you are. Brixton Hill end is better, but down by Kings Avenue it's not quite so well covered.

Cheers Brixtonvilla.
Yep it's the Brixton Hill end. If I can remember rightly New Park Road was the other major-ish road next to it with a pub on it...can't remember the name of the pub though.
We've just moved into a sidestreet off New Park Road! It's a tad scruffy but has loads of really useful shops on it - newsagents, a greengrocer, hardware shops, pharmacy/healthfood shop...it's ace. We only have to walk 2 mins out of our house to get a paper and any grub that we need. Got a nice thriving local feel to it, no supermarket chains (yet).
CK1977 - and you've got all the advantages of the zillions of buses that go up and down Brixton Hill...quiet yet well connected at the same time - perfect! :)
