Can anyone tell me what sort of software I need to create .swf files good enough to put together something like the Jibjab Bush-Kerry "This land..." compilation? http://images2.shockwave.com/afassets/flash/this_land.swf
Well, Macromedia Flash (http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/?promoid=home_prod_flash_082403) would probably be the standard. It's pretty expensive, although i believe there might be some copies floating around on P2P sites. I believe that there is other software that can create .swf files, but i don't know any more about it.
The editor also mentioned recently, in another thread (http://www.urban75.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=2248938&highlight=flash#post2248938"), that he has one or two legal boxed copies of Flash lying around. He might be willing to part with one for free, or for a donation to the server fund.

Thanks mhendo. The only freeware I found wasn't any use. Definitely can't afford the new legal stuff around £400.
I should add one other thing:
If you haven't used Flash before, and especially if you aren't familiar with scripting languages like Javascript and Actionscript, you should be aware that it has a very steep learning curve. Producing something like the presentation you linked to woould take quite a bit of time and effort for a beginner.

Understood. I've now downloaded Swish2 to see what that's like.
