The roads in Hainault are fucking awful. The main roads are ok but the side roads are like skidpan alley.

I have just skidded into a kerb near my son's school, trying to get the car over a road-hump. God knows how some of the other parents are going to cope this morning, especially the ones who drive like maniacs all the time.

There's going to be lots of accidents today all over the place.

My bit of Dagenham had approx1/16" of snow but a shed load of ice on the pavement. Nearly fell over about five times.

Oh God that reminds me. I've parked Trundle opposite the school at the end of the road. I hope none of the 'I don't give a toss that my kids are turning into fat bastards so I'll drive them 25 metres' mothers don't skid into her when dropping their little darlings off to school.

I took the dog out at about 7.15a.m. and the predictded "Arctic conditions" were conspicuous in their absence. Not even a frost, and the puddles remained water, rather than ice, filled. In Harrow (now at work) the ground is frozen and apparently it started snowing last night. It's grim up north (London).

It started snowing whilst I was doing the pub quiz at the student union last night. By the time I walked home there were two inches of it and more. Having had eight pints and a sambuca or two I decided that riding my bike in the snow might be fun. I came off twice. :D

Wish I had a digital camera, 'cos the view from my office window is lovely this morning.

Shame about what appears to be water coming through my bathroom ceiling at home though. :( They only fixed that bloody roof the other winter.

Well up here in the barren wastelands of scotland..... it's sunny, there was a bit of a blizzard when i got up but it's settled down now. Here's some 'hot off the press' pictures of wintry Scotland.

I was hoping to canoeing today in my brand new canoe, but as you can see from the picture it's a wee bit choppy.

It wasn't even particularly cold this morning (our bathroom has no heating and it wasn't too bad), let alone snow-covered. I wonder, is there a big climate differential between north and south Brixton? :D

On such a winter's day, la la la...

I saw a load of snow in South London this morning but it was all on the roofs of cars coming from snowier places.

If this really is Arctic weather then those polar bears must get a bit warm with all that fur.

It snowed at about 1.30am in Canning Taaahn. Huge flakes. It was quite light and the parrot was goggling out of the window with a 'what the fuck?' expression on his face. It stopped after about 5 minutes.

Also got snowed on in the 5 minutes it took me to walk from Euston to work, foiling my 'Oh I've been in the stores for a while, I haven't only just got in' excuse due to the melting snowflakes in my hair

Just cycled home in the snow. Was gonna catch the DLR but as I'd never done it before, thought fuck it I fancy a bit of danger.

Daft thing to do on a road bike I suppose, those tyres were slipping all over the place. Wheel spinning away from stopped and nutty going way too fast drivers covering me in black shit. You cant go round corner like you would normally either, the bike just goes away from you, but even with 22mm tyres, not as bad as I would have thought. Felt safer than walking in it.

Baled out and thought the 1717 slow from Blackfriars in the swirling snow would be safe - Thameslink excelled of course and the f+++ing train packed up at Farringdon - mad scramble a la last train out of Paris before the Germans moved in ensued and got on the second train - which then went slow taking an hour in crush loaded conditions through the snow.

Careful on the roads tomorrow peeps, I just went out for a late night snowball fight with the kid and all the snow has turned into sheet ice now. It's going to be hell trying to get anywhere tomorrow morning. Don't even think about bikes! Place is like an ice rink.

i've just seen a convoy of salt trucks... totally bizare (oh where is the camera when you need it...) but now i know that salt is transported in council trucks similar to the ones used for removing commercial rubbish (you know, the ones that are open topped with high metal sides...)

its true when they say you learn something every day... ;)

Have just imbibed four huge glasses of white wine (& I mean huge) in the hope of an icy blizzard preventing me from going to work tomorrow.

Looks like it will be sunny & cold, no icy blizzards. Bleeeeeeugh.

http://www.madshadow.co.uk/albert.JPG What a BEAUTIFUL picture! And the library one too but this one is of a subject particularly close to my heart. :D Wot no Urbanites in Dickensian garb clutching tankards of mulled Stella? No, we were all inside in the warm of course, though Anna Key looks pretty Dickensian. :D :D Mulled Stella? Eww!

The libray is really pretty, perfect for an Xmas card.

Also love the bench with the dash of blue in the top left and the "car vac" one. The last is a prizewinner I'd say.

Someone lives in Brixton Hill Court (or there abouts) don't they T? :)

Great pics everyone.

Snow lovely but not impressed by Lambeth's inability to grit the pavements which were a sheet of ice this morning.

The bad news is that it looks like there's no more snow coming and what's already here will disappear pretty pronto :(

I want more snow!

Here's eight more photos from my Brixton ramble earlier today

It's not the most 'immediate' at thumbnail size but this one's (http://www.pbase.com/image/25582866) really good. I really like the Crystal Palace park ones too.
