I have an old Ricoh slr 35mm camera with 3 lenses (standard 50mm a telefoto plus 2x adaptor) These are pentax K mounts ,is it possible to use them with modern digital slr type cameras?

You will be alright if you go for a Pentax digital camera such as the Digital K7:-

I doubt if you will get other cameras to work with the old Pentax lenses unless I am unaware of some fancy adapters made by third party manufacturers.

You can use them, and there are lens mount adapters available.
However, firstly the focal length of the lenses will be different. Secondly, because digital sensors behave differently to film they tend to show 'faults' in lenses designed for use with film (even the best quality lenses).
I can't recall reading anything specifically about Ricoh lenses, but some purple fringing and abberations can be expected.
Personally, I wouldn't base any digital camera purchase on your film lens stock.
