Anyone done this flight?
The prices are very good but I am scared the flight will be horrible and its quite a long flight.
Better still is once in KL, you can get a return to Perth, Australia for under £200!!!
Only used their local flights. It's a bus ride but cheap and OK. The food was crap.

They were OK Hong Kong-KL and back but wouldn't fancy taking them for any longer flights unless the savings were huge - arriving/leaving from the cheapo terminal instead of the main airport was kind of a pain as well.
Kl's LCC isn't bad. There isn't an express train link but it's much quieter and there is a burger king if you get hungry. Or was it a McShits?

It's OK, I guess - as good as Gatwick, anyway - but I found the lack of a rail link a pain, largely because I spent around 20 minutes looking for it on the way in...:D

I have used them from KL to Manila which was ok but London`- KL is about 15 hours. My wife and baby will be with me and I don't think I want to put them through it.
But the savings could be be hundreds of pounds. Not sure what to do.
Might try and get on these to go to Oz for the New Year
IIRC, if your inbound (to KL) flight is late for the connection to Sydney, you're fucked. As far as Air Asia is concerned, it's two separate tickets, isn't it? Travel insurance and maybe a day's stopover?

Whilst Air Asia do have some stunningly low fares, always, always compare with a regular carrier - you may just be pleasantly surprised.
Malaysian currently has £154 + tax return to KL (not that they have any availability mind...)
Same goes fro Ryanair & Easyjet, always compare with BA etc. Often there is very little between them and the back up you get when things go wrong is much better with a regular airline.
Tis all.

Aren't these though wehre the tax usually turns out to be 300 quid anyway or something

Where are you going to after Lenny?
Depends on how much that flight is. Air Asia use the old Sepang terminal if I remember rightly, which is handy if you're getting another Air Asia flight, but it's only a short bus ride away from the main International terminal.
Have you factored in what all the extras are going to cost on top of the price you've seen?

There's good and bad ratings here but it's worth reading to see what problems people have encountered, and how they were dealt with.
If the problems weren't dealt with as quickly and efficiently as MAS, Emirates, Singapore, Thai and various other airways would deal with them, it's up to you whether you want to take that chance, bearing in mind you've to think of your wife and baby.

Personally, I'd go with one of the other airlines for the longest part of the journey. MAS often has deals where you can get a few nights chucked in with the flight.

Tax is currently around £200, similar to Air Asia.

We are staying in KL. Maybe a trip to the Pehentians but thats it. Air Asia works out about half the price compared to the other airlines including all the extras but if its like sitting on a Ryan Air flight for 15 hours I think I would rather pay the extra and fly in comfort.

Yep, apparently you have to pay for "comfort" packs, eg. pillows, blankets etc. From what I've read, you'll get water with your meal but you have to pay for any water or drinks in between. Could soon add up.
When are you planning on going?
Perhentians again. Lucky you. Take some photos this time :D
Where will you stay? Mama's again? Tuna Bay was quite nice, but double the price

We will stay somewhere a bit nicer this time. Last time we were on a bit of shoe string budget. We are not going till January but I need a holiday so badly I am planning it already. :D
Shit just remembered they shut part of the year. Do you know when they close?

You'll be fine unless you're going late in the year. Some places start shutting end of October, some as late as end of November. Only shut for a couple of months though.
When are you going?
Tuna Bay was nice. Don't waste your money on Perhentian Island Resort or Coral View as they're both overpriced for what you get.
Awana, Tuna Bay and another one (will think of name soon!) are nice - full of Japanese (Awana), probably as they have more money to spend.
I saw a really nice looking one on Kecil on the other side of the island but can't remember what it's called. Will look it up.

You could always look at Trip Advisor. Looks like there's a new accommodation there called Shari La

Obviously, but that's what SE Asia's great at innit? :D
I have done many short haul flights with AA and found them to be consistently good. They use an A340 on the STD - KL flight which is pretty new and should nto be that bad.
