My mum is going to Palestine for May Day...but wants to go by land from Jordan, because she hated Ben whatsit airport so much the last time!
She MUST travel out on April 26th, but can come back on either of May 4th, 5th or 6th!
She's in London, so Heathrow would be her airport of choice, but is flexible on flight times (so long as she can get there by tube and not then have to wait all night sort of thing).
I'm looking myself, but as an extra lazy option, I'm posting here in case anyone else can be bothered to have a go :p or if you'd know of any particularly cheap ways to get a flight there.
Ta!

Even thoughy she only needs a filght, but might be worth looking at packages too. That seemed the cheapest way to get to Jordan when I checked a year or so ago..

Wow! Ok thanks Biddly :) ...from my first lazy search I've got £400 return, so can't imagine a package would come in cheaper :hmm: - especially cos she's fairly rigid with her dates iyswim, but will give that a go too!
She did mention something about being advised that she'd get it cheaper if she could find flights that fillied empty seats on charter flights, but I haven't found any charter flights going from any of the London airports to Amman so far to search through, so I'd decided to ignore that option! :D

Sometimes packages through travel agents are cheaper than scheduled flights, because the travel companies have already paid for the flight and hotel so sometimes you can get a bargain because for them getting something is better than getting nothing for the seat/room, although you might struggle with a destination like Amman.

Yeah - I understand it as a concept :D (particularly with european destinations) - just didn't think it'd apply here. :)

(And the trouble is to know where to look for that, online.)
Thanks btw, Ann. :)

I dunno, but years ago, I got a last minute return flight to Phuket, with the first night's accommodation thrown in, for about 125 or 175 quid or something stupid like that, it was so low that I thought it was a misprint when I saw it in the window.
Just try the major travel agents:
http://www.thomascook.com has Amman, Jordan listed as a destination, but the search facility is a bit of a mare, you're probably better off phoning them or popping in. It's probably a 'winter sun' destination, or tied in with touristy trips to Petra.
http://www.thomascook.com/destinations/jordan/
It's listed as having one resort there, although no more details.
The main snag is that they tend to fly only once or twice a week to some places, so if the dates aren't flexible, that could be a problem.
Thomson don't appear to fly there, closest is Tel Aviv, although that's Ben Gurion airport, but whether there would be an easier ride through passport control if travelling on a tourist flight, who knows, but I think they're from Manchester only, so that's unlikely...
I can't think of what the other major high street travel agents in the UK are nowadays.
Or even try teletext... although the online version doesn't appear to show Jordan as a destination for flights, but maybe the telly version might?
http://www.teletextholidays.co.uk Maybe phone one of them up, don't some of them have 0800 numbers? Ask them to check... they have access to all the different booking systems from different holiday companies.
Or STA Travel, you don't have to be a student...

Oh thank you Ann for writing all that! That's really helpful - much appreciated :)
I've given up for today but am going to start fresh tomorrow, so will defo start by looking some of that up!
It was actually Thomas Cook that was mentioned to her already :hmm: so I might call them if I can't get the online search to work.
