View Full Version : Man shot in both arms in Camberwell/cops shot at in Tulse Hill (Aug 08)
Another man has been shot in Camberwell - this time on Denmark Road (in Lambeth so I've put it in the Brixton section rather than London) - the whole area cordoned off with lots of policemen

Excellent job by the cops: the useless piece of shit firing the gun has been arrested and his gun recovered.
That's one less cunt on the streets. Well done cops!

Cunts. Pity the geezer couldn't shoot straight. Probably caused it themselves by disrespecting the bloke. Good luck to him ... and better luck next time. :D
Attica et al are on holiday for a couple of weeks ... gone somewhere in the cuntryside apparently ...
brave copper, even if the copper was armed.
During the chase, the suspect pulled a gun from his waistband, turned and fired one shot, which missed.
The policeman continued to give chase and arrested the man in the car park of the Tulse Hill Tavern.

I saw Ken L talking about this and he said all of the culprits get caught.
I think the problem is, they don't believe they'll be caught.
What's the prison sentence for this kind of thing? 10 years?

What's the prison sentence for this kind of thing? 10 years?
Maximum penalties for offences involving a real handgun (many vary with firearm type):
- *Possession of firearm or ammunition without certificate - 5yrs
- *Carrying firearm in public place - 7yrs
- Possession of prohibited weapon (may be handgun if disguised as something else or if able to fire more than two rounds without needing more trigger pulls) - 10yrs
- *Possession with intent to endanger life - life
- *Possession with intent to cause fear of violence - 10yrs
- *Possession wth intent to resist arrest - Life
- Possession while committing scheduled offence (ABH or GBH, rape, theft, robbery, damage and various related offences) - Life
- Possession with intent to commit indictable offence (most "proper" crimes) - Life
- Trespassing in building with firearm - 7yrs
- Trespassing on land with firearm - 3 months
- Possession by prohibited person (eg. on release from prison) - 5yrs
Those marked * would appear to be committed on the basis of the little know about the circumstances in this case. The others may or may not be, depending on the detailed circumstances. There will also be a likelihood of an attempted murder charge which carries a life penalty too.
In practice, in similar situations defendants have been sentenced to life on some occasions, well into double figures years of imprisonment (which pretty much amounts to the same thing) in others.
brave copper, even if the copper was armed.He/she wasn't:
Two men were arrested after a dramatic chase in which a shot was fired at unarmed police officers.
A handgun was recovered in the car park of a south London pub after the gunman was tackled to the ground.
The drama began in Tulse Hill when three uniformed officers, including a woman special officer, attempted to pull over a car.
The green Ford Focus sped off and following a short pursuit stopped in Abbess Close where the driver was arrested.
The passenger ran down an alleyway and a 27-year-old officer and the special gave chase on foot as they radioed for back-up.
As they closed in on the man he stopped, pulled a gun from his waistband and shot at the officers.
Neither officer was injured and they continued to give chase, eventually tackling the man outside the Tulse Hill Tavern.

Useless wannabe gang-stah couldn't even shoot an unarmed officer. Let's hope a nice long spell in the clink awaits.

Lets hope so, though given that this may well not end up as a conviction for attempted murder, a shorter sentence may result.

Only just heard about this one having just got back from holiday. Depressing isn't it. I can't nip out to the shops for some milk without the girlfriend worrying if I'll come back, that's how much this is affecting us.
That arrest is amazing isn't it? That copper can't have been armed, yet nicks desperado with gun. Some award beckons, surely. If it was the States the villain's family would surely be scheduling the funeral.

Maybe, maybe not.
It happens so often now that it would not surprise me to find that it doesn't even get a Commissioner's High Commendation. I doubt very much whether it will get recognised with any actual award from beyond the police service.
