Have a look on here: http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/travelling-and-living-overseas/entry-requirements
Some might visas on entry... not been to any of those countries though :o
e.g. Thailand: British passport holders may enter Thailand for up to 30 days, without obtaining a visa in advance of arrival.

I'm a bit bored so checked them all... you only need a visa in advance for Vietnam, all the others you either don't need one, or can get it on arrival. I'd go armed with lots of passport photos though.
Forgot to mention criminal record (obviously my travelling partner's).

Didn't check that :D
None of them mentioned it though; whereas it is mentioned on the page for USA; so should be ok.

Go to Thailand - get visa on arrival.
In Thailand, give passport to travel agency - get Vietnamese visa in a day or two.
Go to Japan - visa on arrival too.
Criminal records - not sure, but wouldn't worry, you're not off to USA.
Exactly what I was hoping. Thanks for the link- I'm going to do a bit of printing.
If anyone else knows anything else then please go ahead & post. :)

dress smart and respectfully when obtaining visas.
A few years since I did it, but the Vietnam one's no problem if you're in London and you do it in person, just hand it in one day then go and pick it up again a couple of days later (it wasn't open every day). Cambodia was on arrival, pure chaos at the airport and you need to have some USD in cash for the fee or you need to exchange at the airport which adds to the arseache. Thailand's no problem unless you're gonna be there a while. Don't know anything about Japan.

We're going to Thailand tomorrow and just hoping to get our Vietnam one whilst we're there.. the only problem being that for the first 3 days we anticipate being in the same place, but after that we planned to be on the road really.
Japan - you get a 3 month visa on arrival.
Oddly enough, the visa check at HCMC airport was one of the quickest I've ever been through, extremely bored-looking official took only the most cursory glance before stamping it.

It is VERY easy actually and eally depends on your plans...and lengths in eachh nation. Cambodia for example is a guaranteed visa , jsut show up at the right Crossings or come in by air and it is there if you pay...at Crossings you get jacked a bit, like an extra 10 US but that is the SE Asian farang tax so just roll with it. 20 for Tourist, 25 for Biz but add the farang tax of course. In the PP Airport at least it is straight up now, no tax.
Thailand changed its rules last year but it is still simple if you have not been there in the last 6 months.
Of course I should have said first it also depends on your country of origin (passport). Ysanks have no problem, cannot say for UK but probably th same. Still, check it out.
Yanks do not need to worry for any of your nations.

Well, one thing you can be proud of anyway.

I'm in and out of Thailand all the time, no probs and no change. It's the work visa situation that's altered recently, iirc.
No border runs any more I'm told. Need to leave and get a proper 2 month one that can be topped up for 2 more months in Bangkok or something like that.
